In Brief: Stephanie McMahon has been a favorite among collectors since her 2000 trading card debut.

Card Show #35: Stephanie McMahon

Sure, the Summerslam main event is technically John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar. But with Lesnar’s part-time schedule and the slow, long-term build leading up to the Stephanie McMahon-Brie Bella match, get ready for a lot more Stephanie on WWE TV.

Whether all of the television time given to Stephanie’s evil authority figure really is best for business is debatable. There’s no question, though, that Stephanie has her fans – including many collectors. Stephanie’s trading cards, action figures, 8x10 promos, and WWF Magazine pinups often outsell those of many other WWE Divas.

Stephanie has been featured on trading cards since 2000, when she first appeared on a WWF Danbury Mint Collection commemorative trading card. The Danbury Mint cards were 22k gold foil, and sold for $9.95 each. Stephanie’s card from this set has basically held its value over the last 14 years, usually selling in the $8-12 range.

Stephanie’s first traditional trading card appeared in Fleer’s 2001 WWF Raw is War set. Stephanie appeared on two cards in that set: a basic profile card (#68) and a Show Enders card (#99) against Lita.

Stephanie was included in Fleer products from 2001 to 2004. Her most valuable card by far is her Diva’s Private Signings card from 2001 Fleer WWF Championship Clash. The cards were inserted one in every 120 packs, and were hobby exclusive.

To date, this is Stephanie’s only certified autographed trading card. The card features one of the best looking autographs you’ll ever see on a wrestling card, as Stephanie signed “Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley” in crisp, clean handwriting. It is a very difficult card to find and therefore very volatile when it shows up for sale. The card typically sells in the $100-150 range, but can sometimes sell much higher.

Stephanie has appeared on surprisingly few Topps trading cards since the company took over the WWE license in 2005. She was only included in 2007 Topps WWE Chrome II and 2008 Topps WWE Ultimate Rivals before making a return in 2014 Topps WWE and 2014 Topps WWE Chrome.

Stephanie’s cards from 2014 have been popular with collectors, especially her parallel cards. Her Topps Black parallel, a relatively common card inserted at a rate of one in six packs, usually sells in the $3-5 range but has sold for as much as $20. Her 2014 Topps Chrome Gold Refractor, serial numbered to 50 copies, usually sells in the $10-$15 range. The lucky collector who pulled her 1/1 Superfractor currently has it listed on eBay for $699.99 or best offer.
