WWE Raw Reax #3: "Cena actually looked like he was really pissed instead of using DX humor."

Shaun Corbett (8.0): Best match Umaga vs. Hardy. Worst Match: Stephanie and the audio sweetener vs. Shane. I thought this was a pretty good show, considering I read the spoilers and was still entertained. I really liked how Umaga pulled the Hogan-Warrior finished and kicked out after the match, and the fact that Hardy didn't realize he had won. Considering what they had to work with, everything was about as good as can be... And Randy Orton had his best promo since WM20, and John Cena actually looked like he was really pissed instead of using DX humor. And, I really enjoyed Kennnneeddyyy… McMaaahhon! But I had one big beef; okay, so we know that they use audio sweetener to improve Smackdown on occasion, but when Stephanie walked down the aisle, there was a huge "pop," only I didn't see a single person standing or cheering. On the other hand, Shane comes out and the crowd jumps to their feet, and no you could hear crickets chirping. Is Steph that insecure? What gives? This must mean "The Billionaire Dollar Princess" daughter (of the non-billionaire) is coming back to TV more regularly, and I will have to start watching with remote in hand again.
Bill Matz of Philadelphia, Pa. (7.0): Best match: Hardy-Umaga, Worst match: John Cena's segment with Regal. Starting the show off with Lilian Garcia announcing the start of an Intercontinental Title match really kicked off the night and gave it the feel of a big event. It feels like the IC Title is going to become relevant again and not just be bounced around as if it were a second rate TV title. Hardy-Umaga delivered and set the tone for the night. Beth Phoenix looks promising, and the "Glamazon" is a pretty catchy gmmick but without much (any?) depth in talent of the Women's Division, I don't feel like it was great to feature two matches with divas. The mixed tag match could have just as easily been Rhodes vs Daivari one-on-one and served the same purpose. Not only is "looking up" an interesting clue in the McMahon illegitimate child storyline, but it's a fair description of the tag division. London & Kendrick bring new life to a division on Raw that seemed to have lost its newly attained luster after the Hardys left. With Londn/Kendrck, Cade/Murdoch, and Benjamn/Haas, the seeds have been planted for the beginning of a Edge/Christian, Hardys, Dudleys type of rivalry. Good news for tag team wrestling. Even though the McMahon storyline seems to be turning a corner and genuinely has fans scratching their heads (in wonder and not disbelief of ridiculousness), it is troubling that the champion of the "A- show" is not the centerpiece of Raw. We were privy to exactly why a non-wrestling storyline has taken precedent over John Cena, the supposed Franchise. His overacting and his inabilty to carry a promo past a catch-phrase laiden 30-second spot reminds everyone how good Triple H was as champion, even though his reign frustrated everybody at the time. Speaking of Hunter, I hope last night was the direction his character is going to be taking, and not an exception, a one-week vacation from the sophmoric, not-so-funny in-your-40s humor we were all witness to before the injury and last week in his first Raw since returning at Summerslam. All in all a strong foundation for many entertaining opportunities in the coming weeks and months.
John F. of Chicago, Ill. (5.0): Best Match: Jillian and Daivari Duet. Worst Match: What happened after the Jillian and Daivari duet. I thought tonight was an average show, though considering what's happened the last week, better than I expected. I expect promos the next couple of weeks of Jillian and Daivari in a recording studio. That was great. Oh, and things are looking up, especially for Elijah Burke. 4-UP!
James Smith of Redding, California (7.0): Best Match: Kendrick/London vs. WGTT. Worst match: Triple H vs. Umaga & Carlito. Being an off and on wrestling fan (basically on when it's good, then turning off for months when it's gone bad for too long), I thought that this week's show was... decent. There were some high points and low points. The end to the Intercontinental Title match was just weak and makes me feel like it was botched. I wish the tag team match was longer as I like both of the teams and I actually bought Cena going nuts. I have to agree with another person about the lack of long-term selling on Triple H's part, and add my criticism of them basically killing off Umaga's monster gimmick in favor of someone who does not need the credit for it. The ''bastard'' storyline needs to end as it's now just a fumbled mess. Note to the WWE: if you want to tell stories, then please learn something about continuity. You go on for weeks about all these people McMahon slept with, had all the research going on and all that, then state that he really never slept with any of them except that "one"? Despite this, I'm curious to see who the kid is. If it's Triple H, though, I'm done.
Kevin Johnson of Columbus, Ohio: I have a guess as to who Mr. McMahon's son is. I am going with the Big Show. The clue of "Things are looking up" could be a reference to the Big Show's height. Also, in his feud with the Big Boss Man, the Boss Man is quoted as saying "You Hear That Paul Wight? You're A Nasty Bastard And Your Mama Says So!" This is a huge stretch as WWE is not known for their continuity over long periods of time. The WWE needs this angle to pay off in light of all the recent storyline setbacks and this would definitely not be a let down. Where the storyline goes after that, it is up to the WWE to drop the ball on that.

PWTORCH FORMAT CONVENTIONS
For the sake of clarity to our readers (and to save us time editing these same things over and over), please follow these simple conventions when writing Torch Reax:
-Wrestlers teaming together should be connected with "&" symbol (e.g. Hunter & Michaels, Devon & Ray) or with a "/" (e.g. Animal/Hawk, Harris/Storm), but not dashes and not the word "and."
-To designate wrestlers who are fighting, feuding, or wrestling each other, put a dash (-) between them (e.g. Michaels-McMahon, Jarrett-Sting, Hogan-Andre) or use "vs."
-The word versus should always be abbreviated this way: "vs." with a period afterward (not "v." or "v/s" or "VS" or "VS." or any other way).
-Plus, it's just our policy, but we don't indulge wrestling promotions' strange spelling fetishes where they spell Raw, Smackdown, Heat, Impact, etc. with the haphazard capitalization of various leTTeRz. It seems very "junior high," so no Raw (it's Raw), no iMPACT (it's Impact), etc.
-Please try to avoid overuse of dot-dot-dots. If you have a thought that's "trailing off," you can use for effect, but otherwise, just use periods, commas, and our personal favorite, semicolons if you dare. We have always had a policy of only one exclamation point and no ALL CAPS. Let your words convey the meaning of your point. There's many to choose from out there.
