WWE Raw Reax #3: "In my opinion, the words 'run sheet' should never be uttered on a wrestling show. Nov 7, 2007 - 9:44:00 PM
Kevin Wang of Dallas, Texas - PWTorch VIP member (6.0): Best Match: Tie between Finlay & Kennedy vs. Mysterio & Hardy and Santino's selling of the Stone Cold Stunner. Worst Match: Duggan & Super Crazy vs. The World's Most Misused Tag Team. DX has finally worn out its welcome. Last night's opening segment was horrible, with everyone and everything playing second fiddle to getting them over. In my opinion, the words "run sheet" should never be uttered on a wrestling show. Yes, the fans understand that the show is a work, but the fourth wall should still mean something. On a brighter note, Santino Marella continues to shine in the spotlight. His deliberate butchering of Stone Cold-isms is delightful, and nobody has sold a Stunner like that. Dare I say it was better than the theatrics The Rock would go through ten years ago when taking the move? This week's show also gets a positive rating from me for not putting women wrestlers in dangerous situations, and for the great Moolah tribute. I teared up a bit watching it, as hers is a career that can never be duplicated.
Chris Thomas of Auburn, Maine (7.0): Best Match-Main Event Worst Match: Anything that Bob Holly touches. What is the fascination with Thurman Plugg? He is the worst wrestler on the roster and the WWE should be ashamed every time they trot him out. Beth Phoenix is a pleasure to watch. Doesn't it make sense that an actual athlete tears up the model-type divas? Keep up the good work, Beth. I may be alone on this, but I liked the dig at the writer's strike by Trips. The show's writing would be terrible and they admitted it. Ah, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, the only wrestler with a Class D driver's license... Santino is just great; he carried that segment. The best part was, everything that he said about that piece of crap movie was correct. That film is garbage. Should Maria turn heel after her bath? DX for one night, my foot.
Nick Mart of Bethlehem, Pa. (6.5): Best Match: Hardy/Mysterio vs. Finlay/Kennedy. Worst Match: Snitsky. I've read reader reactions and all everyone does is complain. Stop watching Raw then! You fans are impossible to please. Anyway, I thought Raw was enjoyable tonight. DX's return was fine, as well as Austin's. However, Austin should've been a surprise and not advertised. Raw will get a ratings jump for this episode, but long term it does nothing. Stop wasting TV time on Snitsky. That guy will never ever ever get over. The Hardy match I enjoyed the most. Was it me though or were Hardy and Finlay having trouble wrestling one another? That slap Hardy gave Finlay looked pretty real and intense. Great finish to the match. The main event was a very good match and a nice way to send the crowd home happy.
A.A. Norman of Tulsa, Okla. (8.0): Best match: Hardy & Mysterio vs. Kennedy & Finley. Worst match: Kelly Kelly vs. Beth Phoenix. The DX intro was not really that funny. Are crowds laughing at tired jokes just because they're supposed to? Are some of the signs in the audience cue cards to laugh? In any event, despite that terrible intro, the show quickly recovered with real wrestling action (did I hear some cheering with Coach came out and said people wanted to see wrestling and not DX?). Hardy vs. Kennedy was made even better with the inclusion of Finley and Rey Mysterio. I hope WWE sees that this made the show fresher and continues to bring regulars from and three shows on each show from now on. Austin 3:16 delivered on Santino finally and they both played this well. I am not at all disappointed that DX only returned for one night. It's time they both move on with other factions and alliances. If they could come up with DX about ten years ago, surely they can come up with something better now?
