TNA Impact Reax #1: "This was the first wrestling program I've watched in a long time I enjoyed all the way through." Nov 16, 2007 - 3:42:34 PM
Jason Mills of La Crosse, Wiss. (8.0): Best Match: Kaz vs. Angel. Worst Match: None. As Kevin Nash said, I'll keep this short. This was the first wrestling program I've watched in a long time where I enjoyed the show all the way through without channel surfing. Yes, it had some cheese-ball moments; the recurring mystery partner thing seemed played out , and Havok's heel turn felt rushed. Still, TNA put on some excellent segments and entertaining matches that I enjoyed a lot. I feel less embarrassed to admit I'm a wrestling fan. Also, for some reason I'm craving ding-dongs...
Sam Robinson of Sykesville, Md. (8.5): Best: Main Event Worst: Monster three-way. Overall, this was a great episode of Impact as compared to their last couple of weeks. I said that the Reign vs. Rellik vs. Abyss match was the worst, but it wasn't a bad TV match for what it was. Nice to see that Stambolli hasn't fallen off his game too much. I'm fine with the Angle Alliance as this may just jumpstart the Christian-Tomko feud I've been waiting for. I was upset with Booker coming in at first, though I respect him for everything he's done. I was really pissed to see him motion for the title, but when Christian came out I knew that just meant a three month road block for Booker's main event program and I'm all for Booker-Christian feud as well. The main event was great and the rub that Kaz received from it we'll feel for years to come. Is it just me or would the Flex Capacitor be that much cooler if he could float over into a pin attempt with it? Glad to see Joe back in the main event picture. Now onto the X-Division. Why the hell is Havok (Caldwell put it best: "He's still on the roster?") betraying a division that he really has nothing to do with? Why is it that when Brother Ray pokes fun at himself, I can't help but love him? Where the hell is this program going?
Chad Leaman of New Westminster, B.C. (8.0): Best Match: Kaz vs. Angles. Worst Match: Monster's Bored. I really enjoyed TNA this week. Better pacing, a great TV main event, and some storyline development. I was surprised with the LAX loss, but I like it when an underdog team wins out of the blue. It gives the show some validity, a sense of "must-see," and I think LAX will have no problem maintaining their integrity. Roode, Brooks, and the lovely sign lady wrote the next chapter, which felt overdue but is satisfying now that it's getting there. I personnally really like the 3D anti-X Division gig, as it brings focus to the often ignored X guys. That traitor storyline would have been just what it needed, had it lasted longer than one run-in. If only the X Division was booked as well as the women. You know, establish a champ that speaks passionately instead of in parody. Build a credible challenger over the course of a couple of months, instead of just throwing something on a PPV at the last minute. All that said, I'm excited to see where Christian and his coalition go... I'm hoping that A.J.'s "love" comes through and they can kiss and make up. Christian, A.J., and Tomko are usually the most consistent part of TNA. Booker T and Captian Charisma in the six-sided ring may steal the show at the next PPV, just like Christian did at the last one. Kaz looked great and he has that "it" factor, hopefully he can seize this and establish a bit of character. Hey Yo... you guys are too old. You'll look good riding shotgun for Angle vs. Joe XXIV.
