QUESTION OF THE WEEK: What is your reaction to Shawn Michaels using the crossface submission hold? Nov 19, 2007 - 8:53:07 AM
Last night at the Survivor Series PPV, Shawn Michaels shocked the audience when he applied the crossface submission hold on Randy Orton. Obviously, most fans recognize it as Chris Benoit's finishing hold. Casual fans may or may not be aware of the police reports that indicate Benoit used the hold on his son to end his life, however, fans still associate the hold with Benoit, whose final legacy is that of a murderer.
This week's question is whether it is acceptable for the hold to be used in the course of a wrestling match? If you watched Survivor Series live, what was your instant reaction to seeing the hold applied? If you didn't watch, what was your reaction upon reading about or hearing about Michaels using the hold?
If you believe the hold is perfectly acceptable in the course of a wrestling match, why? If you believe the hold should never be used again, why? Do you think more time should have passed before the hold was reintroduced into a wrestling match, or has enough time passed to where the crossface is just another submission hold?
