Jay Povo of Sturbridge, Mass. (9.0): Best: Randy Orton vs. Shawn Michaels. Worst: Orton-Michaels postmatch, HIAC ending. Very entertaining show all the way through. The ECW Title match was far better than I had expected it to be, and now its time to get Elijah Burke into that title picture. The Divas match was above average with action throughout, and I almost died laughing when Melina missed the apron during her sexy entrance! Also, anytime I can see Mickie do the Kiss of Death, I'm a happy guy. The traditional elimination match was outstanding as every guy did their part to perfection, and I was very happy to see Jeff get the rub from Trips as not only the last two standing, but with his music playing as they celebrated. They only thing that would have made Khali-Horny good was if it was kept short, and it was. The Raw main event was a great, psychological contest. HBK trying to mat wrestle the title away worked very well, and it had the crowd on the edge of its seat; especially the finishing sequence. The last half of that match literally had my pulse racing; I just wish Orton could have stood tall without taking another superkick. Hell in the Cell was decent, but I found myself waiting for Edge the whole time; and that took most of the drama out of the nearfalls, since you knew it wouldnt be over until he showed up. When he did, it was anti-climatic and formulaic. The eventual feud between these three should be top notch however. Great show, get the replay.
Ryan Tourgee of Cranston, R.I. (7.5): Best: Orton vs. HBK. Worst: Khali-Hornswoggle.
This was a solid yet unremarkable show. The ECW match was better than expected. I almost hate to say it but Miz is improving. The tag title match would have been better left on Raw. Nice to see Jeff Hardy get the pin (thanks Trip). Also it was nice to see Orton get a much needed clean win in his title reign. Edge's involvement in the main event also added a lot. He was definitely missed on Smackdown. Not as memorable as past Survivor Series but a respectable offering nonetheless.
Molly of St. Helen's, Ore.: I am not here to rip apart the WWE, nor the PPV but I am more livid at what a joke Randy Orton was tonight. He botched a skinning the cat move by not being in the right position and then, to make matters worse, he looked like he'd rather have been somewhere else. The guy deserves to be knocked, not HBK. Randy has no charisma whatsoever nor the ability to sell a match. After his hand was raised after the show he walked off almost like nothing ever happened. I know many will get upset saying how it was too much of trying to be like the UFC , but hell at least they were trying to be something different. This business is always changing and now is not the time to crab about submission holds and not enough ''holy shit'' moments. Those landed us to a thin WWE locker room to begin with. I just hope this Shawn vs. Randy feud is over, but I have a feeling its another gimmick finisher for next month, and HBK better be given the golden star for jobber of the year! Shawn Michaels has lost every PPV he has been in this year; that's messed up! I understand wanting to push the heel champion, but what a super kick to give us fans a smile on the face, Again? The rest of the ppv had some great spots and the classic Survivor Series match was probably my favorite of the night. The HIC was okay, but Taker looked rusty at times. The Edge return saved it from being a let down to me.
