WWE Smackdown Reax #1: "I'm still having trouble wrapping my head around the Vickie-Edge storyline."

Terrie Neilson of Las Vegas, Nev. (7.5): Best: MVP vs. Rey Worst: Torrie vs. Victoria; Henry vs. Finlay/Hornswoggle (though neither were terrible). For an outgo show, this Smackdown was fairly "eh." While not the best executed on the mic, Finlay's face turn seems complete now, and the crowd easily accepted it. With Matt Hardy out for the time being, Rey is now in his place, and the MVP-Rey feud is off to a hot start. MVP is a well-defined heel again, and much better defined than when he first began. What a difference one year makes. It made storyline sense for Edge to have messed with Kane, as Kane's party-crashing inadvertently caused Edge's injury and subsequent relinquishing of the title (the surgery video pointed in that direction). I'm still having trouble wrapping my head around the storyline WWE is using instead: that Vickie Guerrero had been in cahoots with Edge all this time. Nice coverup, but absolutely bizarre. Was this the storyline Kristal was referring to? I suppose Edge's return storyline was done to change up the title situation, and Edge's character would go to these sleazy means if necessary, but this just doesn't feel right at all. JBL played it up the middle as he understood Edge's behavior, but was still disappointed that Edge crashed the match. On top of it, there is the impression that the crowd was hot for the Edge-Vickie kiss, and went berserk in favor of Undertaker when he tombstoned Vickie. Was this the right way to go about it?

Seth Berger of Hammond, Ind. (9.0): Best Match: MVP vs. Rey Misterio. Worst Match: Torrie Wilson vs. Victoria (only because Victoria lost). If they added just one simple cruiserweight match (at least give the semblance they care about crowning a new champion sometime this millennium), this was a 10. Otherwise, this was a nice post-Survivor Series edition of the show. Edge in a featured role. The U.S. Champion actually put into a program for his title. The Rockers - I mean the Major Brothers - get another chance to improve. Perhaps when they get a chance on PPV, they can eliminate the one mistake that usually costs them the match. Jesse and Festus in a pretty funny little skit pushing the John Cena DVD. I really enjoyed the Cutting Edge. Batista entering the ring totally ticked off, guaranteeing an ass-whoopin' for Edge next week, then Undertaker tombstoning Vickie was a nice crowning touch to a great show. I hope this leads to Vickie suspending 'Taker until the inevitable Royal Rumble match against Edge. (That program needs more than 3-4 weeks to build up if they actually put a little thought into the program.)
