TNA Impact Reax #1: "Impact feels like it's more relevant to today in 2007, as opposed to Raw." Nov 30, 2007 - 11:42:52 AM
Terrie Neilson of Las Vegas, Nev. (6.0): Best: Christian on the mic Worst: A major thing about Christian being given away on free TV A little on the wild side, but things are all but tidied up for Turning Point. A few matches got put together at the last minute again, but the shorter turnaround after Genesis made things tough to build. Feast Or Fired is probably going to give a TV explanation for someone's release, and oddly I'm thinking it's Scott Steiner, the only one of the competitors to talk about it. In his promo, he practically detached himself from TNA. Maybe I'm wrong, though, and the fired one is someone that isn't going to be missed for some reason. Booker's first match with TNA wasn't bad. Didn't have to worry about rust, so it was one to get himself used to the crowd who welcomed him warmly. A Booker-Roode feud should be a nice starter for Booker. Kaz got a good rub for saving Booker earlier and as the face in peril later, and with the announcers backing it up, could get a noticeable push. The whole Storm-Young thing finally gets around to making them opponents in a true feud; Tenay and West calling it a feud based simply on a drinking contest was absurd. Rellik is a monster, huh? Not by his goose-egg win streak. The big penalty goes to giving away on free TV what they couldn't save for a few days: Christian's last semblance of of an undefeated streak - getting pinned - happened. Christian being on the losing side would have been acceptable as it still would have added to his anger and frustration about the whole Alliance-Coalition business. Booker's first PPV win pinning Christian would have been acceptable. Christian getting pinned on Thursday night took away something special to take to Turning Point. The card looks okay on paper, but now it really doesn't have much special to it.
Nick of Alabama, Ga.: Despite a couple plot holes, one of the best episodes of Impact, ever. Tonight was just another example of why I think Impact is much less embarrassing and much more ''current'' and "today'' than Raw. Impact feels like the show for "the cool kids," the little things they do to keep it realistic really make a difference. I can't have friends over when Raw is on because it is just too embarrassing. On Impact, they actually talk and act like normal human beings in 2007 in the backstage segments and promos (obviously aside from Black Reign). Impact feels like it's more relevant to today in 2007, as opposed to Raw which kind of feels like it's been in some sort of bubble, isolated from the real world. TNA obviously has its weaknesses, but if any wrestling show is going to win the general public it's going to be Impact. Booker T's promo and match were both great, I really missed his personality when he was King Booker. The main event was a cool showcase of TNA's main players and I'm glad to see Kaz being treated as a legitimate main-eventer.
Tremont Nichols: I'm not sure why TNA started about five minutes past the hour but anyway. The show started off with Cage and Bobby Roode in the back which was a good way to set up the Roode vs. Booker T Match later in the show. Roode's promo was great. The Team 3D tag was absolutely the best match of the night. They gave us a preview of what were going to see at Turning Point and it really helped the storyline progress. Team 3D is really showing up in this feud which isn't always the case.Rellick is supposed to be a "Monster," but he loses his first to matches on Impact?! Yes, really smart. This match did what it was suppose to do which was promote the 10,000 tacks matches. Booker T seems really energized since coming to TNA hope to see him really put so new guys over and help TNA in a big way. It was a good Impact leading into Turning Point.
