ROH Man Up PPV Reax #2: "The ROH roster is full of wrestlers who could headline in either TNA or WWE." Dec 3, 2007 - 3:57:48 PM
Justin Ballard of Boston, Mass. (9.0): Best Match: Ladder War. Worst Match: Strong vs. Stevens. Another very solid outing from ROH! While I wasn't quite as impressed with the ladder match as everyone else, it was nevertheless a very worthy PPV main event. I think the Danielson vs. McGuinness match from Driven is still the best ROH match I've seen, but Man Up was a top-notch show. The Danielson-Morishima match told a great story, and the three-match series was solid as well. My favorite of the NRC-Resilience matches was Aries vs. Richards. Richards continues to impress me with his growth in the ring. The four-way match was an excellent opener and Nigel picked up a well-deserved win. Well worth the $15!
Kris Azevedo of North Carolina (9.5): Best Match: Ladder War with Eric Stevens and Strong coming in a strong second. Worst Match: None. While the Ladder war was sick because of the nature of the match, Stevens and Strong had a totally sick match built around two moves. They proved that you can tell a powerful story in the ring without all the highspots. Even in defeat, Stevens came out looking great because he went so far with one of the best performers in ROH. This match was a great endcap when booked together with the other two matches in this best of three series. Now it's time for Austin Aries and Roderick Strong to go one and one.
Hank Schaller of Muskegon, Mich. - PWTorch VIP member: Having seen two ROH cards in person and one PPV, ROH has hands down the best PPVs in the wrestling industry. Their wrestlers may not be as famous as those in the WWE or TNA, but the PPV and performers are far better. Coupling Japanese grapplers with good workers from stateside is probably producing more revenue than might be imagined. Why else would one of ROH best former grapplers in Punk now be the ECW Champion and have one great match after another with the behemoths that Vince McMahon loves to push. The ROH roster is full of wrestlers who could headline in either TNA or WWE. But the egos of the likes of McMahon and Vince Russo won't let it happen.
