Conner Ortman of Pensacola, Fla. (10.0): Best Match: Jeff Hardy vs. Carlito. Worst Match: None. Holy sh--, this episode of Raw had to be one of the greatest episodes ever. I don't care how much lack of action there was, it was just awesome. My friend who hates and despises WWE was so interested in Raw this night that he watched the entire episode without leaving to so much as get a drink. Jeff Hardy and Carlito were specificly amusing in their ladder match and the three-on-tree match was very "fun," so to speak. All the flashbacks really kept me interested and happy. The ending segment was rather amusing and made me feel so glad to be a Raw fan it felt as if Vince McMahon was giving back to his fans. Love it and I will savor this Raw for the rest of my life because it's these kind of Raws that make me want to be a wrestler.
Terrie Neilson of Las Vegas, Nev. (8.0): Best: Hardy vs. Carlito; Michaels interview. Worst: Holly/Rhodes vs. Cade/Murdoch. Considering that it was three hours that had to serve double duty as both "glorified nostaliga show" and go-home to Armageddon, there was a pretty good balance. It wasn't the greatest final sell, but at least reminders of what was coming was there. I still think that they did a horrible job with the Kennedy-Michaels feud, but at least they did it with continuity. Shawn playing it low-key to Kennedy's loud mouth is almost surreal, but works for what they're doing. Marty didn't do too bad out there as I haven't seen him in the ring in quite a while. The Evolution reunion was handled well in terms of explaining Randy Orton being the odd man out. Adding the clip of his being ejected from the group after his first title win added to Randy as an explanation of his bitter side. The six-man finish was about as logical as it could be considering that it was Umaga who caused the DQ, and he's the only one who isn't playing a major part at Armageddon. How the mighty have fallen. I am curious about the status of the recently released who returned for this (Scotty 2 Hotty, RVD, et al). The Lita-Kane segment was entertaining as it addresses the aftermath of their odd relationship with the awkward small talk. Everybody in my neck of the woods saw Vince naming himself as Greatest Superstar coming a mile away. Austin tearing up naming the audience as Greatest Superstar felt genuine. It is us crowds they've come to entertain, after all. As for the grand curtain call, Shawn seemed a little odd out in his corner surroounded by beer drinkers. He should have had a Coke with Regal. We may have our issues with storylines and workers both good and bad, but at the end of the day, we do watch Raw to be entertained. It's hasn't always been perfect, but who is? Here's to the show we rant and rave about, because we care.
Adam Crawley of Christiansburg, Va. (8.0): Best Match: Jeff Hardy vs. Carlito. Worst Match: Cody Rhodes/Hardcore Holly vs. Cade & Murdoch. This was a fun show, and sparked some good memories as I got to explain old stories to my wife, who's only been watching for less than a year. The Hardy-Carlito match had a half-dozen good spots, and was a good showcase for Carlito, who's been misused lately. I didn't know he had some of those moves in him. The battle royal was supposed to be just for fun, and that's exactly what it was. It was good to see RVD back, but he must not have wanted to wrestle very much. Evolution vs. Rated RKO & Umaga had good promos building it up, but the match was only so-so. Cody & Holly winning the tag titles was predictable with Dad sitting at ringside, and the match was not exciting. Cody hasn't shown anything besides the ability to put on a basic match. My DVR recording actually cut off as Undertaker was walking to the ring, so I only saw part of the final segment, but from what I read, it looked like a fun way to end a fun show.
