WWE Raw Reax #2: "Here's hoping JBL's return from retirement is worth it. I'll drink to that feud."

Joe M of Valparaiso, Ind. (8.0): Best Segment: Y2J-JBL. Worst Segment: Opening segment. For the first time in about a month, I was really hyped up after Raw. It had a moderately exciting main event, as well as a round of terrific promos from the Nature Boy and Y2J-JBL. Santino-Carlito gets honorable mention best segment of the show, especially with Santino's "swapping spit" line. They'll make one hell of a tag team, I think. Good to see the Flair-Umaga match end the way it should've. It keeps both wrestlers looking strong. I suppose Y2J isn't going to appear on Smackdown now, but it would've made for interesting TV. Here's hoping JBL's return from retirement is worth it. I'll drink to that feud. Tonight I was so happy to be a wrestling fan.

Bryant Mooney of Stamford, Conn. (7.5): Best: Jeff Hardy & Shawn Michaels vs. Randy Orton & Mr. Kennedy Worst: World Tag Team Championship Match. This week's Raw was way better than I thought it would be. The Divas tag team match was creative since Christmas time is coming. When Jeff Hardy came out during Vince's Promo I was like "YES!" because this is what he needs to further excel his push towards the WWE Championship. I thought Vince's breakdown in the ring was very great and entertaining. No one can play a better breakdown on live TV than Vince McMahon. When Triple H came out it made it better with consoling him in the corner. The handicap match shortly after was a curveball to me, but it didn't damper the show as much and was a less painful handicap match than what Triple H has had before where he basically destroys the opposition especially the Tag Team Division in recent years. Overall, the segment was pretty entertaining. The Tag Team Division in WWE has never been this useless than it is now. The World Tag Team Title match was the least interesting match. They tried to switch it up this week, but it still just doesn't catch my eye. They try and try, but the tag team division just isn't good anymore and nobody's paying attention to it. Ric Flair's promo before his match with Umaga was a great promo. The match was pretty decent compared to the previous match. I really like this "retirement" storyline and I don't care how long it drags to. Chris Jericho and JBL's promo was great; it was the best of the night. Jericho is finally getting over and it will be interesting to see who will replace JBL at the Smackdown announce table. This week, overall, promos ruled the show. Santino & Carltio vs. London & Kendrick was just thrown out, but it had very good action for a match that went less than three minutes. Santino took the mic afterwards and was excellent running that promo. The main event was a great match. Thirteen-plus minutes of great action. Jeff Hardy getting the pin on WWE Champion Randy Orton was great, and I am absolutely loving this Jeff Hardy push because of truly deserves it and Hardy is wrestling the best I've ever seen him in his career; I feel that his time is finally coming. I'm glad that Raw delivered another great show after last week's spectacular show.

Terrie Neilson of Las Vegas, Nev. (9.0): Best: Flair promo; Jericho-JBL face-off; Hardy/Michaels vs. Kennedy/Orton Worst: Santa's Little Helper match Very nice outgo from Armageddon. Thankfully, matchwise, the divas match was first as it was all kinds of sloppy. The matches got better as the night went on. As for the segments, never once did I groan or roll my eyes over what was said or done. Regal-Triple H could be a nice little feud under these circumstances. Flair's pre-match promo was classic Nature Boy: put over the opponent while while reminding the world who he is. Win by extremely close countout was about as good as it was gonna be for Flair-Umaga. Triple H-Flair is a two-for-one deal: Flair's "lose and retire" angle meets the temptation of Triple H's heel side. I don't expect Flair to lose, but he does need some clean wins to go with the skin-of-the-teeth ones. Two years ago saw these two on extreme poles after Triple H went way heel. I don't expect that to happen here, either. Does make for an intriguing matchup. I do feel bad for Randy Orton. Just as the Michaels-Orton feud was gathering steam, Jericho makes his return and forces that one aside. Now it looks like Jericho-Orton's been tossed overboard before any steam can really gather for Jericho-JBL and Hardy-Orton. Recent reviews of Hardy-Orton on the road have been very good, and judging by the reaction to the finish tonight, their Rumble match should be just fine. But Orton's going through opponents like water; this can't be good for him or the WWE Title. I can understand the logic of going to the back of the line of contending if there were a fuller roster, but the roster's too thin for this. Picky observation to an otherwise good show.
