Shane McKinley of Danville, Calif. (7.0): Best Match: Joe/Nash vs. Tomko/Styles. Worst Match: Nascar Takes Over TNA "One of our top stars was taken out and is possibly unconsicious, but no time for that now, we've got Nascar drivers!" Top star getting knocked out: kind of a big deal. You didn't even bother mentioning the condition of Cage the rest of the night. A video package on the history of Cage/Tomko? Tomko's reasoning was serviceable. Show was better paced and better executed compared to last week (I wasn't begging for mercy at the end of the 1st hour). I was pleased that the announcers *gasp* actually focused their attention on the current match. Rellik drinks martainis? Really? Boo Rellik win. And by the way, EMAL is LAME spelled backwards. Abullah, Catcus Jack, and Terry Funk will be giving Mike Tenay a call soon. Liked how TNA is emphasing their live shows. Good vibe for Joe, and Joe is now the clearcut popular babyface (and hopefully this stupid contract nonsense will fade away). You've got Joe's Posse (NWO Red) vs. Angle Alliance (NWO White). Should make for entertaining TV. I'm fine with a blurb, skit, but tonight showed me that Nascar deserves more attention than TNA wrestlers. I'll rather get a dose of Pacman Jones wrestling than this desperation. The promise of the revial of the X Division was cut short by the announcers PROMOTING NASCAR INSTEAD OF THE MATCH. Right. Having a Nascar driver take out one of your boys didn't help matters. Boos for not giving the Lethal win more attention (by him showing up, video package, anything). ODB vs. Kong was hot, and hopefully this feud will go longer. I don't care much for ODB vs. Kim. Nothing ruins a big match with the knowing that a contrived and predictable interfence will happen. Booker vs. Kurt Angle next week wasn't executed well with the Roode thing still going on. The wedding bit was oddly sweet, with the daughter, heart boxers, and Styles marrying Karen. Overall, better execution in announcing and pacing, but two glaring huge misses. Clean wins are ok, by the way. I'm just relieved that there wasn't a "loser has to dress up like cupid" match.
Terrie Neilson of Las Vegas, Nev. (5.0) Best: ODB vs. Kong; Booker waits for Roode; Rhino promo Worst: Rellik vs. Young; the Angles renew their vows. What it in the world was I watching tonight? The outgo show from Against All Odds was for the most part horrible! The less said about the Angle saga the better so I won't need to take something for that pain. All this talk about balls, and the one who should have a set (Cornette, who used to) doesn't. Christian interrupts Joe's signing in such a heelish way that Tomko keeps somewhat face despite his actions on Sunday. Tomko gave fairly logical explanations for his actions. I was hoping for the Greta Garbo "I want to be left alone" statement regarding Christian. I was not hoping for, but expected, Tomko choosing to be in the Angle Alliance. Notice again, though, that Tomko was not a part in a Angle vow renewing celebration. There is still room for him to play subversive and mess with things from within, much more subtlely than C.M. Punk was when he was part of The New Breed. I'm sorry but Ray looks more like he would have passed the weigh-in than Devon, but Ray is a better troublemaker. Oddly, I like the potential direction Abyss could be going in. While still not showing his face, Abyss's unmasking was volunatry as opposed to Kane's forced unmasking. The point being told is that maybe with shedding the mask, Abyss is shedding his guilt. Abyss will lose a ton of his mystique once he's fully unmasked, but I'm wanting to see where this goes. Christian gets laid out, and he's cared about for what--a couple of sentences? No followup, and A.J. is being accused by the announcers. Why do I get the feeling it's Joe that did it? Rellik gets his second-ever win with the lamest looking inside-clothesline I've ever seen. What was that match for anyway? Rhino's return was well-received, and his being "re-introduced to alcohol" was a valid explanation for his time gone. Makes sense that he picks up where he left off with Storm, the person and storyline he was dealing with when he was shelved. Miscommunicated double teams are usually instigated by heels on faces and the heels are all over each other. This time it's with faces ODB and Gail Kim. The crowd won't buy either as heels with this, but say Kim-ODB is next, then what's next for Kong? If Cornette knows that Booker has issues with Roode, why did he book Booker against Kurt Angle next week? Should I throw up my hands and stop watching? Tune in next week.
