WWE Raw Reax #3: "The crowd didn't seem to know how to handle the whole Show-Mayweather thing." Feb 19, 2008 - 3:19:20 PM
Hank Schaller of Muskegon, Mich. - Torch VIP member (8.0): As much as I was critical of the No Way Out pay-per-view on Sunday night, I have to compliment the McMahons on the booking of the Raw on Monday night. John Cena being left out of the WrestleMania main event so Triple H, alias Mr. Stephanie McMahon, can earn a bigger share of the pay-per-view revenues, upset me. But a main event of a three-way match between Cena, Triple H, and Randy Orton is perfect. It was even great when Triple H KO'd both Cena and Orton after counting Orton out - that made logical sense. I would expect nothing else from The Game. The fact that Ric Flair is being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame the night before WrestleMania also gives me confidence that Ric will either win his way all the way to WrestleMania - which means he will either win all his matches between now and then or be granted a rematch against whoever he loses to. Shawn Michaels would probably be the best candidate as far as I am concerned. I am also excited about the upcoming showdown between Big Show and Floyd Mayweather, especially if the injured Rey Mysterio continues as part of the storyline until the big event. My only downgrade on a very good Raw follow up to a pay-per-view is what I call the incest-is-best storyline. With Raw using Hornswoggle more and more to reach out to kids, incest is the worst possible message to send. As a red-blooded male, however, she is one foxy lady and I don't want her to leave my television viewing anytime soon. I just wish she was a diva and the next candidate to be a Playboy Playmate. The Pirate gimmick was bad, but this is worse.
Jeff Leadbeater of Orlando, Fla. - Torch VIP Member (5.5): Best match: Cena vs. Orton. Worst Match: Mr. Kennedy vs. Val Venis (didn't watch Burchill vs. Super Crazy). Jeff Hardy can really put on a show. His match with Snitsky was great, considering it was Snitsky he was wrestling. The show seemed a bit unpolished, especially with Kennedy's old music being used. I'm already long since tired of the Hornswoggle angle. The ending of the Maria-Beth match was predictible. Nice main event touch to continue the whole Orton-Cena thing, though I don't see how Cena doesn't win in Orlando at this point.
Terrie Neilson of Las Vegas, Nev. (7.0): Nothing stood out as really best or worst, and that may not be such a bad thing, except WrestleMania is less than six weeks away. But the wheels are turning, and the WWE Title is a triple threat. That's fine, and getting there was done okay. Money In The Bank is a now-traditional match at Wrestlemania, yet there was no introduction to it like in past years; qualifying matches just happened. There was the video before the Kennedy-Venis match, but it should have been before the Hardy-Snitsky match. The rumors say Flair-Michaels for WrestleMania. If this is so, then tying this match to Flair's Hall Of Fame induction means it will be done with the utmost respect--a very good thing, finally. The crowd was as flaky with their chants and reactions in Anaheim as they were last night in Las Vegas. The crowd didn't seem to know how to handle the whole Show-Mayweather thing, but Ross and Lawler musing about what the match could be furthered along the angle. Horny getting clobbered in the cage had heat, but it didn't seem like it was nearly enough to help the story. But it now gives Finlay a reason for revenge, JBL gets some heat back after the early Chamber elimination, and Horny took some serious bumps to move this along. I'm hoping it becomes Finlay-Regal at WrestleMania. Both are good enough and have enough backstory to play with to make it a good match. Maria is now officially in Playboy... but wasn't it supposed to be an ultimatum she was to decide? Think they forgot their own story there. And the backlash against John Cena appears to be getting worse. Triple H's Pedigree on Cena got more of a pop than the one on Orton. I'm not even a heel turn could save Cena now.
