Terrie Neilson of Las Vegas, Nev. (5.0): Best: Angle and Joe's promos; Angle vs. Kaz. Worst: Velvet and Angelina making over Roxxi TNA's outgo shows have one thing in common: the oxymoronic concept of tying missed ends and completely detaching from the PPV at the same time. It means that a cluster of things happens to set up for the next one, and for the most part it's a jumbled mishmash. Scott Steiner and Petey Williams clarify the case situation (or maybe not). Team 3D has some kind of beef (not sure what it is). Rellik and Reign beat the Motor City Machine Guns (for reasons I just can't fathom). Karen has a big bombshell (which wasn't). Sonjay is a thieving jealous jerk (no, he really is). Velvet and Angelina "makeover" Roxxi in a pathetic attempt to turn heel. So Rhino may seem like a heel now for not just going to Christian's side for the tag match (never mind that Christian was the one who destroyed that friendship). At least I am glad that is was played realistically. And tonight was the beginning of the end for Amazing Kong. There was no excuse for Saeed to interfere. The mystique is gone now... for her and the women's division.
Shane McKinley of Danville, Calif. (6.5): Best Match: Kaz vs. Angle Worst Match: Rock 'n' Rave Infection vs. LAX. Has Kaz escaped from monsterland? Good video packages for Destination X, Lockdown's "Green Blood," and Joe. Didn't bother mentioning Destination X, but I like that they are hyping Lockdown already. I guess some PPVs are more important than others. Tonight featured a lot of questionable wins. Did Curryman really need to win over Petey? In one fell swoop Team 3D escaped from being comedy acts to being in the main event picture. Ray's promo with Jim Cornette was good, and it was long past time to take Team 3D serious again. I find it awesome when wrestlers say that they are the most violent wrestlers out there. Kaz vs. Angle was fastpaced and I liked it very much. Also, I appreciate the fact that TNA realizes that Karen (although I do like her) doesn't need to be involved in Joe vs. Angle. Remember MMG? It's too bad TNA doesn't have a generic jobber tag team. MMG with their new crappy music loses to the monsters. Monsters on offense = crowd dead, bored. MMG on offense = crowd alive, exicited. Roughcut is like watching snipets from a DVD. They put you back together because it sells tickets. Why, oh why, did Rock 'n' Rave Infection get the win over LAX? Aren't LAX supposed to be this great tag team? I also was very annoyed that LAX are now the tag team title contenders because "they are more aggressive." Ever since Styles & Tomko had the tag team titles, that championship has largely fallen by the wayside. Can't A.J. Styles & Tomko lose the titles to LAX without all of this other nonsense? Guess not. I can do without the Lethal's first date or the "makeover." All in all, some faults, but not too bad of a show. It would be nice if there was a actual date for tag team title shots instead of just "whenever we feel like it" (Raw, Impact). It would also be funny if wrestlers wrestled their "four-minute match" over an hour, thus screwing up Karen's big annoucement or Christian looking for a partner. (Remember those ten minute time limits for matches back in the day?) That would be great to see.
David of Missouri (9.0): Thumbs up for Impact. Best Match: Kaz vs. Angle. Worst Match: Reign & Rellik vs. Motor City Machineguns. This was a good Impact. TNA is sometimes so well-booked and sometimes horribly-booked. This was one of those well-booked Impacts with some good building for Lockdown. I saw Destination X, which was a decent PPV, and this was a good followup because TNA went right into the build for Lockdown, realising where the company profit is. Basic opening promo. Petey shouldn't be losing right now, but CurryMan is over. The Samoa Joe promo was the best thing on the show because it was understandable and they didn't cut away to a interview immediately after it. Reign & Relik suck, so they shouldn't be beating the more over Motor City Machine Guns! Super Eric should team up with Shark Cold! Angle and Kaz had a good bout. Kaz-Angle could actually be a main event feud in the future because Kaz is that good. The B.G./Kip stuff has been interesting for me as a educated fan, but for the main program, why is it on there? This is real, and the rest isn't the formula Vince Russo loves. Why TNA booked LAX to lose after becoming no. 1 contenders I don't know. I also didn't know why Chris Daniles beat the X-Champ Jay Lethal after Lethal pinned Kurt Angle either, so I guess I just don't know. The women took over this show. Velvet Sky gets sexier every moment. The making over Roxxi thing was actually kind of funny to me and Velvet and Angel have characters so it works. The post-match angle was good and I'm into the women's division in TNA a lot more than WWE right now. The main-event was a basic bout, but the post-match angle was very good. Team 3D being mad at losing a lot lately and now going after the big guns and celebrities I like. Good start to the Lockdown build. TNA makes no sense sometimes, but then other times they make a lot of sense and have awesome wrestling on Impact and their PPVs. TNA is such a back and forth company in terms of quality stories and action. Thanks.
