WWE Raw Reax #1: "I was completely turned off at the announcement by Vince McMahon at the end of the show."

Steven Shreve of Franklin, Tenn. (8.5): Best Match: Jericho vs. Michaels. Worst Segment: McMahon trying to buy off the fans. For the first time in weeks I was entertained by Raw. Each match that had something to do with the upcoming PPV was convincing me that I should get the PPV, despite the fact that the main events are rehashes of main events we've seen for the past seven months. The show was even convincing my girlfriend that we should order the PPV. Will John Cena be able to draw first blood against JBL? Does Jeff Hardy stand a chance against Umaga outside the ring? Can Beth Phoenix and Melina put on a women's "I Quit" match and make it worth watching? Even Randy Orton and Triple H were excellent on the mics plugging their main event match, and for once what Triple H was saying made sense. However, I was completely turned off at the announcement by Vince McMahon at the end of the show. Giving away a million dollars, eh? Way to reach for the lowest common denominator. You already verbally stated what we want - fresh rivalries, new superstars, and for things to be shaken up in general. So why not get your writing team to THINK a little bit instead of just going for the easy way out? Shane McMahon's entrance music begins with "Money talks..." Yeah, money talks, and it just talked me OUT of buying your PPV this weekend.

Dan Strauss of Goodhue, Minn. (6.0) Best: Nothing really sticks out. Worst: Nothing really sticks out, as this was a very average show. It was great to see another tribute to the troops from the WWE. I have been deployed to Iraq myself with the army and support always comes and goes, but WWE consistently shows its unquestionable support for our military... I never really get into segments like the opening face-off. Just too much "I'm gonna beat you up" "No I'm gonna beat YOU up!" Having said that, Randy Orton is great and believable behind the mic. I'm sure some will say that he goes overboard and overacts, but I see it as effective. He gets red in the face, his veins pop, and he's about to explode explaining how he's gonna be champ. Call me a mark, but I think it's believable and solid. Cena/Hardy vs. Umaga/JBL was a good match, but it didn't do much for advancing storylines or buildup. I also can't believe people cheer for the Cryme Tyme gimmick; it's the same catchphrase with nothing else, and no wrestling involved. It seems HBK/Y2J will be continued…As for the final segment, I am looking forward to a draft to shake things up a bit and start with fresh fueds. What's the deal with the money giveaway? If some guy named Bob wins money on Raw, hey I'm happy for him, but that won't draw ratings. Not sure at all what the point of this is. Hopefully it's some sort of evil hoax, but it won't draw ratings. A weird ending to an average show.
