Mark Swiderski from Chicago, Ill. (9.0): Best match: Tripe H vs. Y2J. Worst Match: Holly/Rhodes vs. Cryme Time. Wow who wrote this show?!? It felt like 1998 again! We has a super hot crowd, everything made sense, seemed unpredictable, and had a purpose! Cena and Triple H's promo was real intense and had me excited to see them wrestle. The only problem with the promo was when John said,"Two years later, we still are the main attraction." That is self-explanatory. I had no idea Charlie Haas had mic skills. Seeing Ric Flair come back was a great surprise. It is a shame he wasn't allowed to cut a long promo in Shawn's defense. The segment that led to a Y2J and Triple H confrontation felt real BIG, but wow was I shocked when they announced a few moments later that they were giving away that match on free TV without any buildup. As a fan, it is a great treat for us. Business-wise, not so smart to give that match away like that. As for their match, it was probably Triple H's best match that he had in a long time! There were lots of awesome reversals and the match had great crowd heat, too. Little off topic here but does anyone else cringe anytime they see Triple H do the spine buster?!? Amazing and strong ending to the show that gave Lance Cade a great initial push and at he same time continued the good buildup between Triple H and Cena. All Lance needs to do now is cut that one good promo next week and he is good to go. All in all, a great show with great angles and matches.
Dan Strauss of Goodhue, Minn.: I only caught the first and last half hours of the show but what I saw was good. I am absolutely depressed I missed a Ric Flair moment. The money segments I saw looked good and much improved over last week. Vince, J.R., and Jerry Lawler all look like they're having fun during these segments, which is good to see. The Cena promo to start the show was intense. I'm sure most macho Cena-haters will say it was corny, but I like when Cena gets into WWE history because it's been proven that he actually believes in what he's saying and he respects the business' history. Main event match was good, probably because as I've said before, Jericho is one of the very top few best quality wrestlers on the roster right now. I bet Jericho could wrestle Khali to a Match of the Year candidate. The surprise ending was nice. First I was asking myself, "What the hell is this?" Then I immediately asked myself, "Who cares, it's new!!" While I'm not sure what the Vegas odds of Lance friggin' Cade interfering in a main event match were, it was a nice new angle and he played it well. He and Jericho both played the parts of the heels beating up the faces to end the show well. Seemed like a good show, and they've got a lot riding on the draft next week. Seeing how no one, not even J.R., know the circumstances of the draft, they need to promote the hell out of it online this week.
Brian Anderson of Ely, Nev. (4.0): Best Match: Jeff Hardy vs. Carlito. Worst Match: The Million Dollar Giveaway Garbage. It's nice to see a little edge from Triple H again; the guy is simply not meant to be a babyface. Great exchange between Cena and Trips! The "bedtime" line was classic. Is Jericho turning heel? Was he not already was a heel? I'm resigned to the fact that Umaga will forever be an unbeatable heel who is never allowed to win anything, not unlike "the Earthquake" in the early-'90s. It should be the focus of the Raw creative team to find a way to keep JBL on the show every Monday. Nobody has his combination of intensity and microphone skills. I was expecting another HE MAN impersonation by Triple H. It's nice to see the bad guys win even if it is in a cookie cutter end of show beatdown. You mean we might actually see someone new share the limelight with Triple H and John Cena for a fleeting moment? Odd choice in Cade when you consider the immense talent they have in someone like Kennedy or hell, Kofi Kingston. I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, though, if it allows me to see something new. You know, it's extremely irritating listening to one imbecile after another rejoicing because they don't have to work for their money. Would it be so hard to focus on interesting storylines and athletic wrestling? Money, pfft! I would want mine back if I actually paid for a ticket to the live show and saw so little wrestling.
