WWE Raw Reax #3: "I think this might be one of the most impressive storyline developments WWE has delivered in years..."

Terrie Neilson, Las Vegas, Nev. (9.0): Best match: DX vs. Miz/Morrison; Jericho vs. Batista. Worst match: Battle Royal; Divas match. There were flaws, but I was highly entertained by tonight's episode. Adamle bowed out with dignity and a reason that made sense. He stammered through his promo, but it could be seen as it coming from a very nervous person. Considering some of the interplay between Shane and Stephanie, I don't think we've seen the last of Adamle yet. The choice of the McMahon-WCW buyout segment further drives the idea of upcoming family tension. I will admit to not expecting a Miz/Morrison win over DX. I was looking for something else. The biggest part of the put-over came from Shawn post-match. Triple H never really showed it, but Shawn got into the post-match pose much slower, and his expression gave Miz and Morrison credence. After some weeks on the back burner, Orton and Team Priceless are back to talking again. I don't get the vibe of the generational stable I had before. There seems to be a clear move to separate DiBiase from the rest of the trio. Orton attacking DiBiase made sense as DiBiase did indeed cause a DQ. What becomes of this now I'm curious to find out. I will admit to seeing a Batista win in the cage, as there is much more reason for Cena to be in a match with him that Jericho. Will someone please tell me how John Cena gets a title match his first match back regardless of who won in the cage? The fact that the next segment of the Cena video life story is the trouble with the fans since his move to Raw, this just can't be helpful.

Alex Roberts in the U.K. (7.5): Best match: Cage Match. Worst match: Rey/Kofi vs. Henry/Kane. While I know many will be groaning at the Shane vs. Stephanie seeds that were planted last night, I think this might be one of the most impressive storyline developments the WWE has delivered in years, simply because of the way it fits into the grand scheme of everything in the WWE and explains Adamle as General Manager. Meanwhile, Chris Jericho regaining the World Title was both brilliant and horrible at the same time. I'm not a fan of these ridiculously quick title changes, especially not when it's the same two men trading the title, however I can forgive it this time around because this fed Jericho's character brilliantly, and put off the Cena-Batista rematch for a little bit longer and more to the point potentially set up a Batista snapping heel turn, which is at this point long overdue. The Miz/Morrison vs. DX match went down pretty much how everyone expected, although to their credit DX did manage to avoid a complete squash of Miz/Morrison. They didn't do a thing to elevate them, however. It was just status quo booking, which is the last thing the WWE needs right now. While their pre-match promo delivered a few smiles, it was unbelievably long. On another note, shall we just ignore that on week one of their reign as Tag Champions, both Kofi Kingston and C.M. Punk were essentially squashed? Squashing Kofi was an astonishingly poor decision and essentially jobbing Punk out to Orton in a couple of minutes was insanity. More to the point - giving away Randy Orton's return to the ring with no hype and no prior warning was unforgivable, thankfully they managed to avoid giving away the first RKO back. To their credit, they did use it to pick up the Orton/Priceless angle and take it in a whole new direction. One final note - after hearing Jim Ross back on Raw last night (albeit briefly), can we all just admit that this Michael Cole experiment hasn't worked? I will be a happy man if the WWE moves Ross/Tazz to Raw fulltime and puts Lawler/Cole on Smackdown where they can be edited into a passable announce team.

Mike McTavich of Shamokin, Pa. (9.0): Best match: Steel Cage. Worst match: May Young squashing all the heel divas. This was a real good show. The main event was better then average with a shocking finish. Jericho has been bringing new ideas to every specialty match he has been in since he has been back. Other then the May Young craziness and the Kung Fu Naki dancing segment, it was a solid show and for a reason. This show was proof that Raw can go back to being the awesome show it always use to be and it is very quite simple how: combine the rosters the way it used to be. I understand that there would be way too many wrestlers on the roster, but cut them. Trust me, I think we can do without seeing Kung Fu Naki and many others. Take all the upcoming talents and combine them with the smaller middle card talents and make that ECW. Make one World champion, one Intercontinental champion, one Tag Team champion, and one Women's champion. It would make all titles more worthy and hard to obtain all at the same time. The IC championship and Tag Team championship would mean something again. We wouldn't see the same four guys on each show go for there respective brand's World Title. Smackdown would have more huge stars to bring in the ratings and ECW's Title could mean something. Tonight's show was fun because I got to see The Undertaker and Kozlov and both Hardys and many others I don't usually get to and I'm sure I'm not the only one. That is my simple solution.
