TNA Turning Point Reax #1: "The Scott Hall distraction at ringside added a sense of 'what's going to happen next' with TNA."

Matt Guerra of Bayonne N.J. (7.0): The match of the night was hands down Angle vs. Abyss. They put their bodies on the line at a PPV, the way it should be done. The Main Event Mafia had to win their matches to be seen as a legit threat in TNA, which made the PPV a little predictable. The Scott Hall distraction at ringside, while it may not have been planned, added a sense of "what's going to happen next" with TNA. I'm not a fan of having Christian join the MEM without consent. I am a fan of the interaction between the young guys and Mick Foley. Did you ever think you'd get to the point where you'd say the WWE can't touch TNA's star power? Well, you're there.

David from Missouri (8.9): Thumbs up for Turning Point '08. Best Match: Abyss/Angle. Worst Match: Rhino-Sheik. So the MEM comes away from their first PPV after forming by destroying the TNA originals. Now, I hate rehashed feuds, and I especially hate WCW re-hashes like this angle, and I also hate constant referencing of the 90's. I was a huge fan in the 90's but, do we have to talk about it every five seconds on TNA? I'll try to find some positives in this PPV. Abyss and Kurt Angle had an awesome match. Both guys risked their health to put on a great match and I thought it was the best match of the night. The X Division opener had a lot of fun X spots for people who like the X-division cruiserweight fests. Eric Young's promo was dumb. Aren't entertainers and wrestlers the same thing? He said "we aren't millionaires, were wrestlers." That line was beyond stupid. So isn't the whole point of getting into wrestling is to become heavily paid and become a huge celeb? I'm sure Russo wrote this retardness. Rhino vs. Sheik was okay, but the whole focus was on Scott Hall and ICP. Jarrett and Dixie apparently let ICP and Hall backstage at this show, I'm guessing out of generosity, and Jeff didn't know Hall being in the crowd would have all the attention on him? Listening to Hall talk with ICP on youtube and reading about Hall being arrested again, it seems Hall is back to being a drunk drug addict again with ICP supporting his alcoholism. Truly sad. If you had Hall there, why didn't they have Samoa Joe just kill him for the hell of it? Booker vs. Cage was a basic match. Joe vs. Nash was good until the crap finish. I just don't get allowing MEM to beat all the faces tonight. Sting vs. A.J. was good. The idea that A.J. showed inexperience in trying to go for the second spiral tap showed here well. Reminded me of Triple H-Hardy matches where Jeff Hardy screws himself by trying to do something amazing for a second time instead of going for the pin attempt. The tag title match and Abyss/Angle made this PPV worth it. Decent showing tonight.
