3/21 ROH on HDNet debut show Reax

Derek Price, PWTorch reader (6.5): I thought the format took great advantage of the limited commercial interruption provided by HDNet. One of the things I liked about Wrestling Society X was how promos and graphics were used to introduce the characters and I'm glad that ROH went that route for first time viewers or those that had limited knowledge of the product. Putting the "Code of Honor" back in place, along with Hogewood's voice itself, definitely created a more sports-like atmosphere. It was evident right from the get-go that Hog stuck out like a sore thumb. He was definitely struggling to keep up with the action, and I could tell that Prazak got frustrated at times with carrying him. Obviously the atmosphere couldn't have been as electric as a PPV taping or one of the bigger shows, but I think that Lenny Leonard's presence would have definitely helped in that department. All of the wrestlers, especially Jacobs and Black, came across as stars on the rise, and gave the viewers something to sink their teeth into. I was especially relieved that the new music was good. I would have loved to see a tie-in with some indie labels, and some credit and purchase information given for the artists. With a few small tweaks (and one huge one in taking Hog off the air), I think this could be a buzz-worthy vehicle for selling PPVs and DVDs.

Steve Murphy, PWTorch reader: I felt it was flat. The wrestling was good, but the audio mix and excitement level needs to be worked on, in my opinion. Solid debut overall, and I'll watch again next week to see where it goes, but production needs to change (for the better) at the next set of tapings. They have a good foundation and they are a welcome addition to the wrestling schedule as long as they want to improve and don't think they have the perfect show already.
