ECW TV Reax #1: "Morrison and Bourne put on maybe the best ECW TV match I've seen"

4/14 WWE ECW on Sci-Fi Reax

Jake Calenda of Conroe, Tex. (9.5): Best Match: John Morrison vs. Evan Bourne. Worst Match: Kozlov squash. Let me begin by saying this ECW was near perfect. We didn't see Tyson Kidd, but Morrison and Bourne put on maybe the best ECW TV match I've seen...maybe ever. Morrison showed some moves that we've seen, but the way he pulls them off makes them look so much better. The kick to the back of the head was great along with the sick knee to Bourne on the ring apron. I actually gave the match five stars myself. I was just happy these two men got 17+ minutes to showcase their skills. Major ups to WWE. The Kozlov squash did its job, as WWE is once again going back to "Step A" in rebuilding the big Russian. The triple threat main event was fine. Christian-Finlay should be a decent match on the debut of Superstars. All in all a very good ECW. This is how every week should be for the Sci-Fi program.

Terrie Neilson of Las Vegas, Nev. (9.0): Best: Morrison vs. Bourne;
commentary. Worst: Kozlov vs. jobber. After all that push and build, in one move Kozlov is starting back at square one. The crowd met it with silence. Over/under on how long Kozlov lasts now? Missing from Burchill's promo expressing concern of being split up was a mention of the Miz-Morrison split. Morrison-Bourne gave more than enough reason to include both in the title chase post Backlash. The match was loaded with sweet moves you would expect from these two, and there was the very nice commentary touch of wondering aloud about Morrison's ability to go back single after being teamed for so long. Oddly left out of of Morrison's resume was the IC title, which I actually didn't mind since it is another brand's title and the show was laser-focused throughout the night on the prestige and importance of the ECW Title. Swagger was treated as a big deal as champion, both with his pitching a Q&A session for "Superstars" and big mention of his champions match with Cena on Raw. A Q&A session probably wouldn't be the best idea for a wrestling show, but it followed along with his wanting to be treated as important. Tiffany did better on the mic last week compared to this week. She sounded a little too rehearsed this time around. The triple threat had a few too many starts and stops in the action, but the commentary more than made up for things. All through, there was consistent talk about the important to the match in terms of Backlash
title match ramifications. Swagger was made important by mentioning he
was scouting the match in the back. There was a bit of miscommunication
over triple threat match rules (he may have been thinking ahead to the
next match), but it made Striker seem more human. Getting caught up in
the action to the point of mental slips happen in just about every
sport, so Matt is forgiven. If only Raw and Smackdown treated their big
titles the way ECW did tonight.
