-- 9/3 WWE Superstars TV Reax
Terrie Neilson of Las Vegas, Nev. (8.0): Best: Cryme Tyme/Eve vs. Hart Dynasty/Natalya. Worst: Bourne vs. Masters. This was a solid show. It wasn't the best match to open with, but Bourne-Masters was okay. I still think that Masters (1) is being limited, not that he is limited himself, and (2) Rey shouldn't be the only one suspended right now. Bourne gets the win to keep some push going as Masters really isn't on one. I'm almost wondering aloud why Masters came back if this is what he's doing. (Punishment, I'm guessing.) The Jericho/Show video was another nicely put together package. WWE should run a tale of the tape for "Jeri-Show" detailing those 40-odd titles between them in some future segment. The Legacy/Orton-DX/Cena segment screams of a six-man on Monday. But where was the booking of the DX-Legacy "submissions count anywhere" match on Monday? Came across very awkwardly here. The main event was a fun match. The mention of Cryme Tyme winning the previous encounter gave away the winner here. If I remember correctly, Eve pinned Natalya then. Eventually it will move to the guys getting the wins. And yet again the heel wins the main event. I can understand the heels getting the win or standing tall on other shows, but it seems strange to do it on a story-neutral show like Superstars.
Justin James of Columbia, S.C. (7.0): Best: Cryme Tyme-Hart Dynasty Worst: None. This episode of Superstars was decent, but nothing stood out. That's both good and bad. Nothing was really excellent, and nothing was bad. What this show did do, though, was really lay the groundwork for future matches. The Bourne-Masters match was decent. I didn't realize how big Masters was until I saw him tower above Bourne. I think Bourne should have gotten more offense; his win felt like the constant Hardy-Henry matches from Hardy's ECW title reign where Henry beats him up, then Hardy hit the TOF "from nowhere" for the win. I am sick of the Raw announce team calling Bourne's victories "upsets" as if he has no talent or something. Just because he is smaller does not mean he can't win! Rex-Regal was a fine match. Regal needed to look strong going into a match with Christian, but Reks put on some good offense. Unfortunately, Reks is saddled with the ridiculous "surfer dude" character which is the worst gimmick of the "New Superstar Initiative" wrestlers on ECW. I love watching Reks do his high flying, high speed moves. Nice to see a guy his size not just plod along (Chris Masters). With some work, he could be a giant version of Christian or Evan Bourne. The "Ruthless Roundtable" was further cemented as an evil force. Note that Regal got a clean win, and last week the dirt on his win was started by Christian. I'm guessing a title change is in store. The main event was a lot of fun. Nice to see The Hart Dynasty pick up the win, especially with Natalya doing it. I liked that they didn't cheat, but they did outsmart Crime Tyme on a number of occasions with blind tags and such. David Hart Smith is officially "no longer boring" and well into "quite serviceable." Tyson Kidd continues to shine. JTG has impressed me more and more lately, and Shad Gaspard is looking more and more nimble. If this reignites the CT-HD feud and leads to a title run for either one (preferably HD), I'm happy.
