WWE Smackdown Reax #1: "What beef does Taker really have against Punk other than the usual 'I'll take your soul' stuff?"

-- 9/11 WWE Smackdown Reax

Terrie Neilson of Las Vegas, Nev. (9.0): Best: Jericho/Show vs. Cryme Tyme; Truth-Drew build. Worst: Morrison-Dolph promo (and it didn't have to be). The nine score is for the "entertained" brain. If I didn't put a lot of thought into the show, it was good. But I was left with way too many unanswered questions for the picky brain. How did Undertaker get a title shot against C.M. Punk after four months MIA, and Morrison get a shot against Rey Mysterio out of nowhere? At least Dolph tried to question the issue, which got what seemed like a conspiracy answer. It certainly didn't deserve "Mr. Ziggles." Add that promo to the whole business with Michelle and Layla and Dolph might be turning face soon. There was still no explanation for Rey's absence. That just sticks out like a sore thumb. The plus is that it's all but there that Dolph-Morrison is being saved for later. Smart move. Where do Finlay and Knox go after the Belfast Brawl? Knox was every bit a vicious beast in that match; Finlay legit looked like he was still trying to get his bearings afterward. If Vince builds his empire on superlatives, then what the hell is building on Monday nights? Okay...Breaking Point has something to do with submissions...but can someone please give me a percentage as to how much of it is? How is a Singapore cane match a submission match, when Grisham stated that every match is a submission match? If Michelle's knee injury is supposedly legit, then why would she wear stilettos? Her using the crutch made sense for the match, but she could barely get herself to the ring in those heels. The only question about the Drew-Truth build is how soon the match happens. If Undertaker snags the belt away from Punk prior to the PPV match where he has NEVER tapped out, does this mean Taker might actually do it? And aside from the title, what beef does Taker really have against Punk other than the usual "I'll take your soul" stuff? Will any of these questions be answered at the PPV? Stay tuned?

-- 9/10 TNA Impact Reax

Terrie Neilson of Las Vegas, Nev. (7.5): Best: A.J./Daniels vs. Angle/Joe; Eric backs down Angle(?!?). Worst: Homicide turns; Morgan story chapter. If I didn't know any better, I thought I was watching a show where the young talent got the spotlight. Something's gotta be up. Steiner did the job, and to the youngest upstarts of the bunch in the four-way. Sets up for what came down the road: Eric Young seemingly having Kurt Angle on the same page and backing off? Eric Young has long deserved the push he's getting and the roll he's on. But something feels superficial and "spidey sense" making that this a smokescreen (storyline and creative). The same goes for Matt Morgan. He's equal parts dumb and smart, but written in such a cluttered way that he looks dumbs trying to outsmart Angle. What was the point of the Hebner promo? The referees are supposed to have more authority--even using replay at the PPV--and yet Hebner claims his hands are tied? Roxxi's return was done very poorly. There was some build for the mystery, but someone kicking out of her finisher (if that's what it was) on her first night back doesn't bode well. Love winning the match pretty much had to mean this was taped before her Visa issues came to light. Deaner's strange push in the women's division continues. He gets a win he can have delusions of grandeur over. Tara takes the loss that serves two stories, Deaner
and the Tara-Kong feud. It makes Kong the heel when I think it would have been more interesting if both Tara and Kong were faces (or at least tweeners). The whole Abyss bounty will come around to Mick Foley, who will make one of those swerves that defy logic. The writing was on the wall all over the segments involving Dr. Stevie. So was the writing on the wall of Homicide turning. It does give a potential reason why Eric would want to recruit Hernandez--to essentially keep LAX united and add another tag team to his collection. It could also be proposed that Angle backed off because he knew of this plan, which would have added another member to the subordinate group. World Elite got their beat down to show their dominance, in ring and on TV. The countdown begins on just how long that lasts.
