WWE Raw Reax #1: "The DX vs. Legacy feud is probably the only thing on Raw that could be viewed as a moderate success"

-- 9/21 WWE Raw Reax

Adam of Edmonton, Alb. (-1.5): Best Match: Miz vs. Evan Bourne. Worst Match: Frederick The Entertainment vs. Chavo Guerrero. This week's Raw was full of hope and possibility. On paper, this Raw looked good. However, due to injection of the guest host interrupting the development of the show, it fell completely apart. The initial introduction of Cedric coming out of the limo was probably the worst thing in history. I just...I don't understand it. I don't get any of it. I don't understand how they thought this would be an effective way to introduce Cedric to the audience, considering he got virtually no reaction in the segment with Santino and Chavo. I don't understand where Santino fit into all of this. The DX segment in the beginning was a bit predictable, but I'm really getting into their feud with Legacy. It's probably the only thing on Raw that could be viewed as a moderate success (and that's probably a stretch). I wish they would have given Triple H and Cody Rhodes a bit more time without the interference. I understand there's a story to tell and all of that, but I don't think highlighting a few more minutes of wrestling would hurt. I know it was given about nine minutes, but when it feels rushed, it feels rushed. Miz vs. Evan Bourne was probably the best match on the card by default. It was a really good match, and I think the eventual re-match will be that much better. If Miz gets the U.S. Title in the future, I would love to see this as a title feud. The contract signing was a snore for the usual reasons: Cena's "sarcastic humor, then get serious" promo act is old and Randy Orton's mean, psychotic demeanor is so inconsistent nobody can take it seriously. The Divas match was forgettable once again. I can't get interested in the women's division when the match is one minute long and then they are not featured again on the show. I thought the U.S. Title match was going to be something to look forward to. If there's one thing I'm sick of, it's stupid non-finishes. I think it's cool they want to have three guys in the title picture, but Miz is the only one with credibility. Miz beat Evan Bourne and Swagger walked out on his one-on-one title match and stole the champion's belt. Why exactly does he deserve another shot? Next was Chavo vs. Cedric. When I read Caldwell's take on the match, I completely agreed. The fact that this match was given four minutes and the U.S. Title finish wasn't announced completely showed to the fans where the priorities of the WWE writers are. I can understand if you get a Legend to be a guest host, or a former wrestler, or the occasional celebrity. But, the best celebrity is a celebrity who doesn't have an ulterior motive. Freddie Prinze made a good host because he appeared to really love wrestling. He wasn't there to plug a book or a movie or a TV appearance. I believe Prinze's celebrity hosting gig was the best one yet. Bob Barker is my number two pick. Prinze's appearance had comedy and an angle where he got involved to help move the angle along; not sell DVDs. I don't understand how anybody can be satisfied with the quality of Raw's product right now. And finally, the main event was pretty predictable. I don't really understand in storyline terms why Jericho would want to start a side feud with John Cena when he and Big Show have MVP and Mark Henry on their tails for the titles still. I could understand if Orton demanded the gauntlet stip and then Cedric added the stipulation for Orton to go through with it if he lost too. Jericho and Big Show demanding it just seemed odd to me. And my guess is next week that John Cena defies the odds heading into HIAC PPV and pins Chris Jericho after an Attitude Adjustment. That's my official prediction because it's officially predictable.

Derik Zooashkiyani, Torch reader: I just thought I'd go ahead and write this just to vent my frustration. I've watched WWE since I was five years old. I'm 24 now. I've been through the good and the bad, but I always stuck through. But after watching just bits and pieces of tonight's Raw, I'm done. I switched over from Monday Night Football to see Cedric the Entertainer leave a limo with a goat and a rabbi. I decided to switch it off until the top of hour where John Cena and Randy Orton talked about their never-ending feud. Not only do I not care about their feud, I hate both of their characters. And John Cena is not The Rock and should never act like him again. To see Orton try to build a pay-per-view match only for John Cena to be scripted to pull out mind-numbing crap like he did tonight makes me realize I'm too old for this type of pro wrestling. So tonight is the end for me. Maybe I'll watch Smackdown when Edge comes back, but if Vince is getting more involved with it, it's only a matter of time before it sucks too. Thank God for football and mixed martial arts. Sorry to leave such a long email, but damn, it felt good to let that out. Congrats Vince, you just lost a fan who made you a billionaire. And I doubt I'm the only one.
