WWE Raw Reax #1: An improved Raw with memorable moments or a "maddeningly inconsistent" show?

-- WWE Raw Reax 1/16

Frank of Anaheim, Calif. (3.5/5.0): Unfortunately, I couldn't make the show live, but I watched it, and I thought it was a little better than last week. It looks like the Kane-Cena feud is finally going to be settled - I was wondering when they would actually fight on TV or PPV... I believe the C.M. Punk-Laurinaitis feud is by far the best now that "Big Johnny" has revealed his intentions at the Rumble. I'm hoping WWE can guide this story correctly... Mick Foley coming back for one more run is fine by me. I just hope that he is at least in the Final Five in the Rumble Match... How can I forget about Y2J? Johnny tried to make Jericho wrestle, but he found a loophole and took off. I'm wondering if WWE can make this right, otherwise, all of that hype was for nothing and the Jericho-Punk match at WrestleMania not happen.

J-Man, married broadcast student (8.5): I liked pretty much everything on this show with the exception of Perez Hilton, who I'm sure crazy old man Vince thought was Paris, especially after the announcers called him Paris five times, and the Divas match (where is Beth?) and Cena beating up the new U.S. champ. Other than that, I liked everything on this show, especially the smiling Chris Jericho, who has Moment of the Year from me already for how he acted in the main event. I even liked Laurinaitis's promo and shot to the head to Mick. All in all, I thought this was a lot better show than last week.

Richard H. of Wilmington, Ohio: Yet another week of maddening inconsistencies. Teddy Long makes a match because Big Johnny is "busy." Ryder has to defend his title, although not medically cleared even though Mark Henry had his decision reversed because he was found to not be "medically cleared" on Smackdown a few weeks ago. Cena attacks Swagger and security is nowhere to be seen and only one referee is trying to stop him. Yet, other competitors sneeze at each other and a convention sprouts around them. Punk can physically threaten Big Johnny, but l'il Zack and his arm candy aren't even allowed to raise their voices to him. Henry and Bryan disappear out of a tag match and the officials do nothing. Years of random wrestlers putting themselves in matches to replace a missing tag partner and aid their ally, thrown out for a minor plot point. A.J. appears out of nowhere to be Bryan's girlfriend just so she can be steamrollered by an obviously-turning-heel user boyfriend. Oh, wait, they use that angle all the time... Raw has had so many episodes and is so locked into so many performers getting their airtime that WWE's writing is suffocating under its own weight. Maybe WWE Creative should do what so many movie franchises and successful TV series do - reboot the franchise. As for best match, worst match, and rating, nothing stands out after sleeping on this show, so I cannot select anything other than the inconsistencies that stick in my craw.
