WWE Raw Reax #1: "Raw didn't set the world on fire, but it laid groundwork for the Chamber and Mania PPVs"

-- WWE Raw Reax 2/6

Matt C. Of Dayton, Ohio (2.0): Best Match: none. Worst Match: All of them. I felt this Raw was a gigantic waste of time. I believe the only way I possibly could have received any enjoyment out of this episode was if I were a six-year-old who likes to watch vignettes of "hero" Cena or a "vengeful" Undertaker. The only thing missing was another Natalya fart, which may have actually been a highlight this week. The only reason I gave this show a 2.0 was the Punk-Jericho semi-confrontation. Punk's non-verbal interaction was well-done. After last week's stellar Raw, I thought this week's was a dramatic disappointment. I pray like Otunga that this mess be rectified in the next few weeks.

954, PWTorch reader (6.5): Best: Six-Pack Challenge. Worst: Sheamus-Otunga. This week's Raw didn't set the world on fire, but I thought it laid groundwork for future matches at both the Elimination Chamber & Mania PPVs. Jericho and Punk's impending match had a few more layers added by way of their staredown and Y2J getting the win in the 6-Pack match. I also liked the video package they set up for Taker, as well as Triple H's reaction to it...as if he's now thinking "Oh, crap, Deadman means business." Daniel Bryan's overall character is getting better, as well. It's a welcome change from the usual portrayal of a heel champ. I thought there were few low points, but they really obvious. For instance, Rumble winner Sheamus being saddled with pointless matches. Why can't they work up an angle that shows him backstage or on the stage studying Punk and Bryan in matches to make it seem like Sheamus is trying to judge which champ would be a better opponent for him to face at Mania? Also, is it just me, or does the thing that Alicia Fox wears to the ring make her look like one of the hyoomans from Adventure Time?

Joe Ward of Raleigh, N.C. (5.0): After last week, I was looking forward to this week's Raw, but it wasn't near the same caliber. First, Hunter is just awful in this role. The more he talks, the more likable Laurinaitis is becoming. Hunter's constant ridiculing and physical threats are going to result in Laurinaitis looking like an underdog face... Jericho spoke and I was fully on board with his logic talking about people stealing his gimmicks, but it didn't "click" he was discussing his Elimination Chamber opponents until the end when I saw all six in the ring. The announcers should have helped here, pointing out that Jericho had "heat" with all five opponents... Kane-Cena was non-existent. I get Kane going after Ryder (which, by the way, an update on his condition would have been nice) but why Eve? ... Happy-Go-Lucky Laurinaitis absolutely stole the scene with "Hunter - Always Kidding." The tweaks to his character have been great... Hunter and Taker had nice videos, but the re-match is not doing a thing for me. And, I think WWE knows it's not going over, so here comes HBK to make it interesting.
