Torch Instant Poll: Does an MMA fight qualify for Wrestling Match of the Year? Sep 23, 2007 - 9:08:00 AM
Coming off of last night's UFC 76, with fight's many are raving about, including an incredible Forrest Griffin vs. Shogun Rua bout which many are touting as an MMA match of the year candidate, one question popped into my head.
Today's poll asks: Does an MMA fight qualify for pro wrestling's match of the year?
The two sports share tons of similarities, especially in that (work or shoot) they involve the acting of trying to beat up an opponent. As we compare, for example, steel cage matches and submission matches when deciding upon pro wrestling's match of the year, is it incorrect to include real fights too? Does the fact that a particular MMA fight provides as much or more enjoyment than any pro wrestling fight in a given year disclude it from the nominees because it was a shoot? Are the two sports so different than comparing the enjoyment received from them is an impossible task?
