TORCH MONTHLY AWARD VOTING: Results for Best/Worst in pro wrestling for December 2009

We've tallied up the totals from the best and worst in pro wrestling during the month of December 2009 in ten monthly categories. We'll be posting the January 2010 monthly award polls this afternoon and the 2009 Year-End Polls will be launched this week as well.

MVP of the Month
(1) C.M. Punk (33 percent)

(2) Chris Jericho (17 percent)
(3) Nigel McGuinness (Desmond Wolfe) (12 percent)
C.M. Punk dethroned Chris Jericho in December to end Jericho's two-month streak. Punk was back in the MVP winner's circle for the first time since a four-month streak ended in September.

Best Wrestler of the Month
(1) A.J. Styles (27 percent)

(2) Nigel McGuinness (Desmond Wolfe) (12 percent)
(3) Kurt Angle (12 percent)
(4t) Chris Jericho (10 percent)
(4t) Christian (10 percent)
(4t) Rey Mysterio (10 percent)
A.J. Styles ended Chris Jericho's two-month streak in Best Wrestler. It was Styles's first monthly victory.

Best Tag Team of the Month
(1) Chris Jericho & Big Show (29 percent)

(2) DX (Shawn Michaels & Triple H) (16 percent)
(3) Young Bucks (14 percent)
Chris Jericho and Big Show won for the fifth straight month, but their winning percentage dropped to 29 percent from 53 percent in November.

Female Wrestler of the Month
(1) Mickie James (43 percent)

(2) Hamada (20 percent)
(3) Tara (14 percent)
(4) Beth Phoenix (10 percent)
Mickie James has now won five out of the last six months dating back to July.

(1) Kurt Angle vs. Desmond Wolfe - Final Resolution PPV (35 percent)

(2t) A.J. Styles vs. Daniels - Turning Point PPV (22 percent)

TNA's monthly PPV beat WWE's monthly PPV for the third consecutive month. Bound for Glory beat Bragging Rights 23 to 19 percent in October, then Turning Point beat Survivor Series 52 to 14 percent in December, and Final Resolution beat TLC 40 to 26 percent.
