By Ian Hunter, PWTorch Trivia Specialist

Paul! I can’t feel my legs, Paul! Ian Hunter here, lying down under a pile of metal being dragged out by medics while fake pyro goes off. Need to be honest here, I wasn’t a fan of the McMahon death last year, and I’m not a fan of them trying to bring back whatever storyline they can from it to put on air again a year later. Worse yet, now we’re probably going back watching Vinnie be rolled around in a chair again. Bad enough I gotta watch Vickie “Thunder-thighs” Guerrero do it, now we have to go back a decade to see this sideshow again. So in tribute to the fake injury angle, this week’s trivia is on fake injuries in wrestling. But first, we need to answer last week’s questions.

1. Chris Jericho was left out of the top 10, getting a #13 pick for Smackdown. A lot of you said Big Show, but no. He got a #6 pick for Raw.

2. Chris Benoit was on the injured list at the time due to his neck surgery. He would be back a few months down the line on Smackdown.

3. Billy & Chuck were the team drafted together as a single pick, mainly since both were the tag champions at the time. A lot of you said The Hardys, but no, they were drafted individually. And if you’ll recall, they were both working on their singles career at the time and weren’t officially a tag team any longer.

4. False. The World’s Championship was “created” by Bischoff specifically for the Raw brand. The old WCW title was still considered part of the belt, however, the word “Undisputed” was removed from the title and remained just the WWE Championship.

5. A. Shane was due to take on the role, but behind the scenes Shane preferred to remain off camera to focus on the internet content of the company and being with his wife more.

A lot of people tried, but very few got all five correct this week. In fact, we only have one winner this week. And his name is Jason Twite. Jason, congrats, you’ve been drafted to TNA. I’m sure Carlito is pissed as hell about that one, but hey, I’m not a WWE employee. It’s a brand new week with a whole new set of questions. Answer the questions and email your answers to TorchTrivia@gmail.com. We'll post the names of those who got ALL FIVE correct. Good luck to you all!

1. One of the original storyline feuds of ECW’s beginnings was that of the Sandman and Tommy Dreamer. Back and forth these two went with cane matches. It got to the point where Tommy blinded the Sandman in one eye with a cane, and then burned his other eye with a cigarette. One of the first times in all of wrestling you saw the backstage areas and both faces and heels giving reactions to what happened in the ring on camera. During this time, the Sandman stayed home from television. But he actually took it a step further and didn’t even leave the house, which for most wrestlers is above and beyond the call of duty. Sandman would later return to show he was in fact not blinded and beat the life out of Dreamer in the process. How long did the Sandman stay at home during this time?

A. 3 weeks
B. 5 weeks
C. 7 weeks
D. 9 weeks
E. 11 weeks

2. While we’re on the subject of being blinded, you can’t talk about that without bringing up Sylvester “Junkyard Dog” Ritter. Back in the good old days of Mid-South the JYD was one of the most popular stars in all of southern wrestling, sometimes getting greater ovations than that of champions. One specific angle involved JYD getting blinded by, who else, the Fabulous Freebirds. It became one of the hottest feuds in all of wrestling history because part of the storyline involved Ritter’s real life wife giving birth to their first daughter, milking the idea that he couldn’t even see her. People tried to blind the Freebirds bringing squirt guns filled with Liquid Plumber, destroyed their cars and the cars of police who escorted them to the arenas, even going so far as to have one man arrested for bringing a gun with him that had bullets engraved with the word “Freebird” across them. Throughout this time, Mid-South would bring in a fellow black wrestler to fight the Freebirds while JYD sat in the corner. But due to the heat, at least one wrestler refused to come. Who was this?

A. Butch Reed
B. Tony Atlas
C. Ernie Ladd
D. Leroy Brown
E. Koko B. Ware

3. Next will be a write-in. In late 1991, Sting was looking to come after Lex Luger for the WCW Championship. Holding onto the United States title, Sting was yelling about being the #1 contender and demanded a shot. But before he could get it, a series of events involving gifts to Sting started to occur, ending at a Clash Of The Champions where Luger blindsided Sting and “injuried” his knee to a severe degree. Sting had a match to defend the U.S. title that night and was threatened with having the title striped if he didn’t make it in time to defend it. Sting got there, injured knee and all, only to loose the belt in what could be argued to be one of the best matches of his career. Who did he lose the belt to?

4. Next will be a True/False question. “Cowboy” Bob Orton was known for years to have a trademark cast over his left arm. In 1985 he had a match with Jimmy Snuka during “The War To Settle The Score” in which he landed on the mat wrong in the midst of a powerbomb and broke it. From that point on he constantly used the cast on his arm to cheat his way to victories behind the referee’s back. Changing casts frequently, the broken arm lasted him all the way until his departure from the WWF in 1987. So, true or false… Bob Orton’s broken arm was merely a gimmick used for his character, and wasn’t really broken.

5. While we’re in the WWF, le’s go forward a decade to the Shawn Michaels incident where he collapsed in the ring. As legend has it, Shawn ran his mouth and got into a brawl with some people when he was outnumbered, and got the tar beat out of him. A plan was made out of a Kevin Nash idea of Shawn suffering a concussion in the ring as the excuse to get him out to heal. The plan was carried out on Monday Night Raw with Owen Hart in on the plan. Most everyone was left in the dark except for McMahon and a few in the back. Everyone else treated the situation as if it were a real because they weren’t in on the plan. Which of these people actually threatened to quit after finding out the truth behind it?

A. Jerry Lawler
B. Earl Hebner
C. Bruce Prichard
D. Jim Ross
E. Gorilla Monsoon
