Original question: Tonight at the WWE Armageddon PPV, Triple H will be involved in a triple threat match for one of WWE's World Titles, this time with Edge and Jeff Hardy as the opposition. At the Dec. 19, 2003 Armageddon PPV in Orlando, Triple H captured the World Title in the main event triple threat match. Who were the other two men in the title match?

(a) Bill Goldberg and Batista
(b) Kane and Batista
(c) Shawn Michaels and Bill Goldberg
(d) Kane and Bill Goldberg

The answer is (d) Kane and Bill Goldberg. Valued reader feedback came from Edgemark, who provided a good synopsis of the main event match. ...

-- Shawn Michaels had already feuded with Triple H for the World Heavyweight Championship, and this triple threat was an easy way to get the title back on Triple H without tarnishing the "monstrousness" of the other two competitors.

What was sad was that not only had Goldberg been champion for such a short period of time before Triple H took it back at Armageddon, he had also lost so many times to Triple H before getting the title that the fans didn't care as much when he finally got it. So basically Goldberg didn't get the title while his return to wrestling was hot, and then Triple H pointed at his lackluster title reign as a reason to put himself over Goldberg for the title so quickly.

Fortunately, this led to Shawn Michaels revisiting his feud with Triple H in 2004, and we got the surprise of Chris Benoit winning the Royal Rumble to challenge for the World Heavyweight title. Goldberg's start quickly faded away after only a year in WWE.
