TORCH TRIVIA 12/20: Answer to what was the main event of the WWF In Your House PPV from December 1995

By James Caldwell, PWTorch columnist

Original question: In December 1995, WWE was stuck in this weird time capsule known as the Era of Ridiculous gimmicks that came right before WCW pushed them to introduce edgier characters and storylines. At the December 17, 1995 In Your House PPV, several future NWO wrestlers were featured on the show. But, what was the actual main event of the PPV?

(a) Diesel (Kevin Nash) vs. Owen Hart
(b) Undertaker vs. Mabel (Big Daddy V) in a casket match
(c) Razor Ramon (Scott Hall) & Marty Jannetty vs. 1-2-3 Kid (Sean Waltman) & Psycho Sid
(d) Bret Hart vs. British Bulldog

The answer is (d) Bret Hart vs. British Bulldog. Rated **** stars by Wade Keller, Hart vs. Bulldog was for the WWF Title and Hart pinned Bulldog in 21:00 to retain the belt. This was, of course, a re-match from Summerslam 1992 in London, England when Bulldog won the Intercontinental Title from Hart.

Torch reader Adrian Finley checks in: "This main event stands out because of the blood flow in the match during the time the WWF was a more family oriented promotion. Excellent match too by the way."

Steve Scratch adds: "This match also featured blood which if I'm not mistaken was the first time since the loser leaves the WWF match between Mr. Perfect and Ric Flair in January 1993 that any blood had been featured on WWF programming. Bret Hart bled a fair amount during this classic which ended with the Hitman pinning the Bulldog with an Okalahoma side roll."

-- Checking on the responses, our winners for the Dec. 20 Torch Trivia question were Adrian Finley, Steve Scratch, and Robert Rich (two in a row!) via email, and on the free site reader comments, our winners were Jeremy Hegg, Dusty Robinson (ten in a row!), Brad, and Jae Wiggz (four in a row!). I'll be publishing a leaderboard on Sunday afternoon to recap the first two weeks of Torch Trivia.

Torch VIP members could have looked up the answer in the Torch VIP Appendix by searching the 1996 Torch back-issue section. Over 1,000 TV reports, Newswires, and columns are available for VIP subscribers.

Be sure to check back tomorrow morning for another installment of Torch Trivia.
