WWE News: Flair claims he didn't quit WWE on radio show this weekend (w/Keller Analysis) Sep 9, 2007 - 11:21:00 PM
On "Prime Time with the Pack Man," Ric Flair was asked about a number of subjects, including the reports that he quit WWE.
The host said: "I heard you have now quit the WWE." Flair said: "That is not true. What would WWE do without me?" He said he's one of the few people left who can show up for work these days, but said he couldn't comment about the suspensions. The hosts didn't follow up with any questions to clarify whether or not he had a falling out with WWE or was upset with management to the point that he gave notice. Flair did say he'd have more to say about it when he is back on the radio show next week.
The host also asked Flair about his finance company and whether that report was true. Flair said it was.
WK: As we reported last week, and multiple sources have since confirmed and reported themselves, Ric Flair quit WWE. He gave his notice. WWE responded by trying diligently to get him to rescind his notice. As of last word, the two sides had not come to terms, and neither Flair nor WWE were happy their dispute got out publicly. This is one of those situations that neither party wanted out. I am supremely confident given the multiple sourcing on this story that Flair quit WWE. He is also professional enough not to air his dirty laundry as WWE is trying to convince him to return. It doesn't do Flair any good to make a public spectacle of something he wanted to handle privately. Both sides probably think the other side leaked it out and neither wants to acknowledge they had a serious falling out that has taken weeks to try to work out to the satisfaction of both parties. Flair saying that can be taken as a sign of what I've predicted all along - which is that the dispute would probably be worked out. This was a case, based on what is known about the falling out, where Flair had to take a stand because he was being disrespected. If WWE is compying with his wishes, the best way for Flair to be sure that things go smoothly from here is to quickly brush off the idea that he ever quit in the first place.
ORIGINAL STORY REPRINTED BELOW FROM SEPT. 4
Ric Flair has quit WWE over frustration with his push and a lack of any encouraging communication from the front office.
There are now discussions to try to talk him into cooling off and agreeing to not quit.
His situation doesn't appear to be at all related to the suspensions, although he's now more valuable with some names being gone for a month.
If things don't work out, it's not beyond the realm of possibility that Flair could be offered a sweet and tempting deal to be part of TNA's two hour launch. TNA is interested and aware of the situation...
I think the temptation to work one more WrestleMania and be in good Hall of Fame standing will tempt him to back down on quitting.
He'll make nice money either place, so he should be fine in that respect. Might make more in TNA, in fact, given how little WWE values Flair. Flair knows that and isn't going to appreciate having to quit to get their attention and respect.
