WWE News Items: Harsh review of Raw vs. Smackdown 2008, Amy Winehouse a fan, a WWE Fight Club Nov 27, 2007 - 11:22:42 AM
--The Hollywood News website reports that singer Amy Winehouse is said to be a secret wrestling fan. The Rehab singer's favourite grapplers are said to be WWE stars Rob Van Dam and Chris Jericho, according to The Sun newspaper. "Amy was so excited about meeting him, she wouldn't stop talking about it. She was much more excited to meet a wrestler than any musician." A source told the paper. "And she used to go crazy whenever Rob was on TV. He was her favourite." --Article Link
--WWE is said to be an inspiration for a University of Chicago "Fight Club" with students. Excerpt: Thunderdome provides a release for spectators as well, many of whom welcome the study break after a long week. "We come almost every week, mostly to laugh," said second-year Rathika Ramadoss, a Snell resident. Refereed by Linton, known as the "Czar," the fights pit two opponents in single-elimination combat, with the goal being to make the other competitor "submit" by admitting defeat. Article Link
--Game Asylum gave a lousy review to the WWE Raw vs. Smackdown 2008 videogame, noting that it's for "closet gays and rednecks." Excerpt: There are loads of modes, though, and the create-a-wrestler is probably the best character creation utility there is in a game, but what's the point when the fighting itself is shallow, boring and slow? Wrestling fans will probably like it, but everyone else should recognise it as the disgusting example of stinking, cynical sh-- that it is. 4 out of 10. Article Link
