WWE News: WWE expanding business in Latin America with significant February 2008 tour Dec 19, 2007 - 4:20:55 PM
WWE issued a press release on Tuesday with information on its latest international expansion plans. Part of the expansion is opening an office in Sao Paulo, Brazil to handle new business in South American and Mexico. They plan on approaching the Latin American market in "television, live events, publishing, licensing, consumer products, mobile, and Web applications."
WWE has booked a major tour of Latin American in February, including Smackdown/ECW shows on Feb. 9 in Guatemala City, Guatemala, Feb. 12 in Quito, Ecuador, and Feb. 14 in Santiago, Chile.
Later this year, WWE be touring Brazil to help launch their new TV programming in the country. They tout it as "WWE's first live event performances in Brazil." Well, except for the imaginary first Intercontinental Title championship they claim was awarded to Pat Patterson in Rio De Janeiro in 1979.
The first few weeks of the WWE live event schedule in February includes several episodes of TV being taped in Texas, a very rare live event in Alaska, then the Raw crew going to Japan and the Smackdown/ECW crew going to Latin America.
Feb. 4 - Raw live and taped for Feb. 11 in Austin, Tex.
Feb. 5 - Smackdown/ECW taping in Corpus Christi, Tex.
Feb. 6 - Smackdown/ECW taping in Houston, Tex. for the following week's shows
Feb. 6 & 7 - Raw in Fairbanks & Anchorage, Alaska
Feb. 9 - SD/ECW house show in Guatemala City, Guatemala
Feb. 10 - SD/ECW house show in Guadalajara, Mexico
Feb. 11 - Raw house show in Ariake, Tokyo
Feb. 12 - SD/ECW house show in Quito, Ecuador and Raw house show in Tokyo, Japan
