FCW News: Ted DiBiase, Jr. wrestles in two matches hours after DUI arrest; new FCW champion Feb 16, 2008 - 1:10:47 PM
WWE's official developmental promotion, Florida Championship Wrestling, crowned its first FCW champion at last night's show at the Florida state fair. Jake Hagar defeated Ted DiBiase, Jr. in the main event after DiBiase, Jr. and Hagar won a 23-man battle royale earlier in the card. After Hagar won the title, Dusty Rhodes presented the belt to him.
DiBiase, Jr. worked Friday night's show at the Florida state fair after being arrested on DUI charges earlier on Friday morning when his SUV crashed into another vehicle at approximately 3:30 in the morning in South Tampa.
DiBiase, Jr.'s blood alcohol content was well-above the legal limit, and he was taken into custody at 4:30 a.m. He was subsequently released from jail at 4:53 p.m. on Friday afternoon on $500 bail.
Also on the FCW show, WWE tag champions The Miz & John Morrison defeated Heath Miller & Steve Lewington. ... Billy Kidman, who is working as a trainer, teamed with T.J. Wilson to defeat former Spirit Squad member Nick Nemeth & Brad Allen. ... Eric Perez & Eddie Colon (brother of Carlito and son of Carlos Colon) won a tag match on the mid-card.
