WWE News: ECW ratings hold steady (w/Keller's suggestion on how to boost ratings in six weeks) Mar 13, 2008 - 4:39:37 PM
ECW on Tuesday night drew a 1.2 rating with 1.43 million viewers. That's on par with recent ratings for the show. In fact, three weeks ago the show also drew 1.43 million viewers. It was down from 1.58 million viewers last week.
Keller Analysis: One expiriment I'd suggest WWE try with ECW is commit to six weeks of pure original content - and advertise it as such on Raw and Smackdown. There is so much filler and Raw highlights on this show, it's really tough for a regular Raw viewer to sit thorugh the middle 20 minutes of the show without DVRing it and scanning through it - which would take about 20 minutes to get through. The Raw recap stuff really is superfluous since, unlike Smackdown's Raw recaps, the ECW audience has access to USA Network and can watch the show on their own. If ECW packed more original, ECW-exclusive wrestler, videos, and of course matches into that one hour and picked up the pace, they might be able to distance themselves from TNA Impact and get back to that 2.0 range it originally drew on Sci-Fi when Paul Heyman was scripting it.
