4/22 WWE in Greensboro: Mitchell's Smackdown taping report including what Mike Adamle brought to the ring Apr 22, 2008 - 10:39:25 PM
WWE Smackdown/ECW TV event
April 22, 2008
Greensboro, N.C. at the Coliseum
Report by Bruce Mitchell, PWTorch columnist
What started off as a professional but dull Smackdown became a very solid show, thanks to two pay-per-view quality main events…
The show starts with Edgie Guerrero and his Familia (Smackdown General Manager Vickie Guerrero, her assistant Teddy Long, the Edgeheads, Bam Neely, and Chavo Guerrero) in the ring. Edge announces that Vickie has made tonight's World Title defense by the Undertaker against Batista a No DQ match.
(1) C.M. Punk interrupts from the ramp. He brags about his Money in The Banks briefcase, then challenges Edge for a match tonight. Vickie accepts.
Continuing the story from Tuesday's ECW show, Shannon Moore (w/Jimmy Wayne Yang) upsets The Miz (w/John Morrison) with a backslide. The Miz has improved.
(2) Natalya (w/Victoria) beats Cherry (w/Michelle McCool) with a Sharpshooter. Natalya bullies Cherry most of the match until Cherry makes a brief comeback
In the ring, Michael Cole interviews Matt Hardy. He's 100 percent. MVP interrupts. They bicker over who is jealous and who is confident until MVP hits Hardy with the mic and knocks him cold with the US Title belt.
(3) Edge beats C.M. Punk with a Spear. This had little heat early but the near falls at the end were really well done and it turned into a good match.
(4) Valdimir Khoslov squashed North Carolina's favorite jobber, Marty "Cham Pain" Garner. I like Khoslov. He's stiff and mean.
(5) Undertaker beat Batista in a No DQ World Title defense when Shawn Micheals came from the back of the arena to Superkick Batista and knock him out. They gave fans a pay-per-view effort before the finish.
Mike Adamle dragged a huge batch of notes to the ring, including a photo book. His suit looked a size too big.
TIPS FOR SENDING IN HOUSE SHOW REPORTS
If you attend an arena event in future, either house shows or TV tapings, we encourage you to send us a report for publication. You can direct your reports to pwtorch@gmail.com.
We accept reports in any format, but if it's not much trouble, please format your report like you see above, with the matches numbered like this (1) , (2) , (3) , with the opening line of each match paragraph stating who beat whom (don't just say Wrestler A vs. Wrestler beat with the result listed later; instead, state up front who won so those readers who don't have time to read the entire report (i. e. their boss walks past their cubicle all the time looking beat their shoulder) can at least quickly assess the results.
Also, please list tag teams using the & symbol as opposed to stating and. Reserve use of and when listing results in a three-way or four-way match where there are no teams (i. e. Wrestler A beat Wrestler B and Wrestler C in a three-way match ) so it is easy to differentiate a handicap match from a three-way match.
If you know HTML coding for bolding, you can also bold out the first line of each match description. If you don't know HTML symbols, then we can add those ourselves.
Special thanks to everyone who helps us with reports on live events!
