WWE News: Big cross-brand match announced for Raw with rare Batista appearance, more Piper May 19, 2008 - 4:09:35 PM
WWE.com has just announced that Batista will switch from Smackdown to Raw for one night and battle Chris Jericho one-on-one. The winner will face Shawn Michaels a week from Sunday at One Night Stand.
Also, Roddy Piper will host a Piper's Pit with no guest announced.
Keller's Analysis: Batista vs. Jericho is one of those matches that could have drawn on PPV if saved for PPV, but in the quest to get ratings back to the high-3s, they're giving away one of the freshest marquee potential match-ups as a "set-up" for a PPV that's doomed already due to coming so quickly after two other WWE PPVs. I like the Batista-Jericho-Michaels storyline, but I don't think giving away Batista-Jericho to get to a match we've already seen (either Michaels vs. Batista or Michaels vs. Jericho) makes business sense.
