Ratings News: Ratings up this week, so could money giveaway be creating buzz McMahon wants? (w/Keller's Analysis) Jun 17, 2008 - 4:34:07 PM
Last night's edition of Raw drew a 3.3 rating last night, up ten percent from last week's 3.0 rating. The rating did drop, though, from the first to second hour, with 3.34 in hour one to 3.27 in hour two. It was the no. show among M18-49 at 10 p.m. and no. 2 at 9 p.m.
Keller's Analysis: A good sign for Vince McMahon, and a vindication of sorts after last week's embarrassing 3.0 rating. This probably assures you'll have another couple weeks to win a bunch of money from McMahon by watching Raw in the U.S. This also shows that announcing something ahead of time can actually help ratings. So rather than give away Triple H vs. Chris Jericho, one of the few marquee fresh match-ups in WWE, with zero notice, promoting it for a few weeks might actually draw an increase in ratings. However, if either Triple H or Jericho are switching brands in next week's draft, perhaps that would explain the rush to get it on the air and try to draw a rating. Had the Triple H vs. Jericho match been hyped ahead of time, though, it's doubtful the second hour rating would have been below the first, and in fact a 3.4 or 3.5 rating might have been achieved.
