C.M. Punk feels he was born to be a WWE wrestler even when many close people told him not to take the risk a few years ago when he left Ring of Honor and the independent scene to train in Ohio Valley Wrestling.

"A whole bunch of people told me that if I went to WWE, I'd never make it. But it's like I never heard them. I never listened," Punk told ESPN.com's Jon Robinson for a story on the new WWE video game. "To me, I'm exactly where I belong. I feel like I was born to do this. Whatever your walk in life is, you pick what you want to be, then go ahead and be the best one."

Punk was asked the magical question about the initials C.M. in his wrestling name, which prompted Punk to describe his sentiments toward the name and the over-use of alliteration in wrestling names.

"I think C.M. Punk is one of the worst names in the business, but I am what I am," Punk said. "I'm a big fan of unnecessary alliteration. I'm a big comic book nerd, so it always tickled me that everybody's name is like Peter Parker or Lana Lang. So in wrestling, Duke 'The Dumpster' Droese was always a really good bad name."

He says it's not necessarily the fault of the creative team coming up with the name that a wrestler might not like. "I think it boils down to being the wrestler's fault. You don't always have to say yes to everything. You can say: 'No, I'm not a Rooster.' It is intimidating and you don't want to screw up or burn bridges, so a lot of guys, if they hand you something, they just try and take that ball and run with it."

Caldwell's Analysis: The first-half of the interview focuses on Punk playing a round of the video game with ESPN's Robinson and walking him through the storyline mode. It's a good interview worth checking out. Punk has an interesting philosophy on wrestlers not wanting to stand up to creative if they don't like an idea.

Punk could be pointing to a passive-aggressive mentality of going-along-to-get-along without ruffling feathers, which probably plays into what Chris Jericho talked about in his interview we published today about Vince McMahon not trusting the young talent if they're not taking control of their own destiny by working hard at developing new ideas or concepts for their characters.
