The latest attempt to poke holes in WWE CEO Linda McMahon's appointment to the Connecticut state Board of Education is a potential "embellishment" on her resume.

McMahon faces a Feb. 5 hearing from state the legislator to approve governor M. Jodi Rell's appointment to the BOE, and local reporters are looking deep into McMahon's background.

McMahon was forced to clarify an item on her resume that her college major at East Carolina University was "French" and not "Education," as he told governor Rell.

"This discrepancy was brought to my attention today by a reporter from the Stamford Advocate," McMahon reportedly told Rell. "At the time that was how it was referenced in the professional marketplace. In other words it was referenced I had a degree in education meaning certified to teach with a major in French."

A spokesperson for the governor told the Stamford Advocate that the governor is satisfied with McMahon's clarification and believes she is "certified and qualified to be a teacher."

In a separate article in the Stamford Advocate, a former Board of Education member wrote a positive editorial about McMahon bringing new ideas to the BOE when administrators in education often rest of tradition and what's worked in the past.

"Appointing Linda McMahon as a member on the State Board of Education is a wise decision," wrote Marc Peyser. "Linda is an extremely bright and innovative businesswoman who has demonstrated her concern for her community on the local as well as national level."
