WWE News: ECW TV rating drops again, analysis of WWE translating Raw viewers to ECW Mar 12, 2009 - 10:56:37 AM
The March 10 episode of ECW TV averaged a 1.3 rating and 1.78 million viewers. Total viewers declined by 3.3 percent from the March 3 show and 6.0 percent from the February 24 show.
This week's ECW rating was essentially flat compared to the previous five and ten weeks of TV. The increase was less than a percentage point in each comparison.
Looking at our new statistic to see how much carryover there is from Raw to ECW, ECW's total viewership was 32.9 percent compared to Raw the previous night on March 9.
Despite WWE advertising a Money in the Bank qualifying match and featuring ECW talent on Raw the previous night, the translation percentage declined from 33.3 percent the previous week. Following is a chart of this year's translation:
-- 1/5 Raw to 1/6 ECW: 33.6 percent
-- 1/12 Raw to 1/13 ECW: 28.0 percent (Swagger's ECW Title victory over Matt Hardy)
-- 1/19 Raw to 1/20 ECW: 31.8 percent (Swagger's first week as ECW champion)
-- 1/26 Raw to 1/27 ECW: 37.4 percent
-- 2/2 Raw to 2/3 ECW: 33.3 percent
-- 2/9 Raw to 2/10 ECW: 31.6 percent (Christian returns to WWE)
-- 2/16 Raw to 2/17 ECW: 28.8 percent
-- 2/23 Raw to 2/24 ECW: 31.5 percent (Swagger vs. Christian ECW Title match)
-- 3/2 Raw to 3/3 ECW: 33.3 percent
-- 3/9 Raw to 3/10 ECW: 32.9 percent
