WWE star John Cena learned from the flaws that become evident to him in his first starring role in "The Marine" to give a better performance in "12 Rounds."

"I see the flaws that were in the first one," Cena recently said on the "Life After Film School" show on Fox Movie Channel to promote the new movie. "I wish I could go back."

Cena was thrust into the lead role for "Marine" after Steve Austin pulled out and he was given a four-week crash course on acting. Cena says he became a wrestler by chance and he dove head-first into acting on short-notice by WWE, but he's firmly committed to both.

"Never saw myself being a wrestler. Everything that has happened to me has happened by chance," Cena said in reflection on life before becoming a pro wrestler. "It was an accident that I got into sports entertainment business. Accident I got into the world of movies."

Cena mentioned Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson leaving wrestling for acting. He said Johnson is trying to focus on just acting, but he wants to be the first to be successful at both.

"I don't necessarily look to anyone to emulate," Cena said when asked if he's trying to model his career after Johnson. "Want to be the guy who does both. Hopefully I'll be the first."

Cena was asked if he would drop pro wrestling for acting at some point, but Cena said he doesn't want to leave wrestling. He said he has acting in one hand and wrestling in the other and he doesn't want to cut off one hand or one audience to focus entirely on the other.

"Love how it's (WWE) run. Love the fans," Cena said about wrestling. "People can do both. I just have a live theater gig that's on 250 times per year. It's a matter of how much time I want to dedicate. It's on my shoulders. I want to be the first to show both can be done."
