A writer for Entertainment Weekly published a blog reviewing Bob Barker hosting Raw, giving WWE the mainstream media attention they want with each week's guest host.

The review was not favorable, as the writer called the opening segment with Jericho "the most painful." The writer added, "Sure, we might have died a little inside seeing the 19-time Emmy winner at a WWE event, but the man did appear to be having a great time."

Caldwell's Analysis: I disagree with the opening segment review, as I thought the opening segment with Jericho and Barker was WWE's best attempt at comedy since Santino was a credible comedy act (I don't think that phrase is an oxymoron) culminating with the Santino-Steve Austin promo exchange from a few years ago. Also, there's the element in play that those of us who cover wrestling or watch wrestling regularly "have the right" to rip a show apart, but when people outside of wrestling rip wrestling with a line like "we might have died a little inside seeing Barker on WWE TV," then it's easy to become defensive of the product. Wrestling fans might be ashamed of Chavo Guerrero in a cow suit or Mark Henry and Big Show grabbing each other's crotches for three minutes, but that's for fans to rip, not an opening for someone on the outside to take shots at wrestling.
