WWE ran two Smackdown/ECW brand house shows over the weekend in Maine featuring World Hvt. champion C.M. Punk vs. Matt Hardy, who was back in the main event picture on the non-televised shows after being completely off this past Friday's Smackdown.

For the third straight weekend of a regular house show schedule, WWE booked John Morrison vs. Dolph Ziggler in one-on-one matches to continue giving them some test-run opportunities before their match-up at the Hell in a Cell PPV on October 4.

WWE also used the same formula for ECW champion Christian vs. Zack Ryder. They are scheduled for a singles match on this week's ECW TV for the ECW Title and WWE booked them in singles matches on both shows to work out the kinks before TV.

Kane moved on from Great Khali on Smackdown this past Friday when Khali was written off TV storylines for knee surgery. He wrestled against Finlay on this weekend's house shows, which could be a future TV match-up. Approval by Dr. Mike Knox is pending.

Divas action was Melina defeating Layla on both shows. ... Cryme Tyme vs. Hart Dynasty was booked yet again. ... Drew McIntyre and R-Truth had two singles match-ups on the weekend shows to continue building up their feud and giving them a test-run before a TV match. ... ECW's secondary match on the weekend shows was Kozlov & Ezekiel Jackson against Tommy Dreamer & The Hurricane.
