Whether to inspire C.M. Punk to fire back at him on Twitter or cool down anticipation for him coming out of retirement, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin suggested to the U.K. Sun that he does not see Punk as his opponent if he were to return to the ring.

"Maybe Punk’s not the guy to go against. He needs to pick up his intensity. We’ll have to see what I do, I’m happy now doing what I am," Austin said in an interview with the Sun's Phil Allely promoting his recent "Recoil" DVD movie release. “In a perfect world, where I could step back into the ring for one last match, I would be willing to have that discussion with management."

Austin noted he keeps in contact with Punk and current talent Chris Jericho and John Cena, but not that often. "I’m not a big phone or email guy and they are always on the road or doing their thing," Austin said.

Austin said he doesn't watch all WWE PPVs on his own busy schedule, but he watched WrestleMania 28 with some concern until The Undertaker vs. Triple H match with Shawn Michaels as special referee.

"I believe the match they had was off the charts. If it hadn’t been for it, the event would have failed. It was very average until then," Austin said. Austin added that he "felt bad" for Daniel Bryan in the 18-second opening match.

“He is a great kid and he can work, you just want to see him work and he didn’t get that chance there," Austin said. "I hope they use him better down the line as there aren’t a lot of guys that truly work like he does." Austin said Bryan could use some polishing, but WWE needs to use guys like Bryan in the "few prime spots for main-eventers."

Regarding Brock Lesnar's return to WWE to return to his main-event position, Austin noted WWE needed someone at Lesnar's level to feud with John Cena following WrestleMania.

"He is right in at main event level. You have Cena there, too, and then they have very limited opponents. The job now is to move people to that position," Austin said.
