Triple H Interview Series

-- January 30: Week 53 of Triple H's in-character interview series with Michael Cole aired on Friday this week following the live Smackdown special.

Hunter played company spokesperson in the first-half, then heel authority figure saying Sting doesn't belong in WWE, and salesman for Monday's Raw, where Hunter will address a mystery controversy from the Royal Rumble.

Hunter's teaser was: "When I go back and watch the Rumble match, it's just not right. I think the whole world knew it. Everyone voiced their opinion. ... Like I said, unlike the NFL, we address our problem. We're not going to turn our backs on our balls. We are going to go face-to-face with our problem with our balls. And we're going to address them Monday night on Raw." The teaser played to passionate fans who booed Roman Reigns winning the Rumble, but it came across like a misdirection to the fictional aspect of Big Show & Kane returning to the Rumble match, The Rock getting involved, and Reigns eliminating a disappearing Rusev to win. -- January 21: Week 52 of Triple H's in-character interview series with Michael Cole focused on Sting's second WWE appearance on Raw. Hunter angrily said he doesn't make the same mistake twice, so the "next time Sting sticks his nose in my business, it will be the last thing he ever does."

As for Brock Lesnar attacking Seth Rollins on Raw, Hunter calmed down and quietly said he thinks Brock might be nervous. "He doesn't fight for free," Hunter smirked. Hunter said maybe he sees The Future coming down the train tracks.

Hunter also reminisced on winning the Royal Rumble match to hype Sunday's match. Asked who will be the next Mr. WrestleMania by winning this year's Rumble, Hunter vacillated before noting there are too many variables to make a prediction, but he has "seen the future, and it's bright indeed." -- January 14: Week 51 of Triple H's weekly in-character interview with Michael Cole focused on Hunter sliding toward Seth Rollins as his pick to be WWE champion over Brock Lesnar. Hunter teased Rollins having the MITB briefcase handy, too, at the Royal Rumble PPV. Hunter also set up Daniel Bryan's "return from injury" journey, wondering if he can climb the mountain again with an eye on WrestleMania.

Plus, Cole went back to the first-ever Smackdown episode, where Triple H beat The Rock with help from Shawn Michaels, who is scheduled to return to WWE TV on Monday's Raw. [ Video HERE ]

-- January 7: Triple H returned to the weekly interview forum with Michael Cole on WWE's website for Week 50 of his in-character interview series.

The lengthy interview mainly focused on the storyline of The Authority returning to power, eliminating those who don't play by their twisted rules (Dolph Ziggler, Erick Rowan, and Ryback), and running down Sting and John Cena.

Per the format of building up the heel, Cole did not poke holes in Hunter's viewpoints, which were based on either twisting actual events or omitting key details. Namely, Hunter saying he and Stephanie McMahon had no knowledge of Seth Rollins's plot against Edge & Christian and not even being at Raw while out of power, yet returning to TV at the very end of last week's Raw when Cena reinstated The Authority.
