Pro Wrestling Torch was established in 1987 by Wade Keller. One of the primary traits PWTorch has been credited with over the years is assembling the best and most diverse staff of columnists with broad knowledge, but also areas of specialty where they have a particularly strong grasp of history. Every day PWTorch.com presents that team of writers answering your questions, some of which are fact-based and others of which are opinion-based. Either way, we've got you covered with Bruce Mitchell, Pat McNeill, Sean Radican, Greg Parks, James Caldwell, and Wade Keller. Collectively they have over 80 years working for the Torch, writing about wrestling and studying industry history and trends.

If you have a question you'd like us to respond to, send your question to askpwtorch@gmail.com. I, along with the Torch staff, will address you questions in this feature and also the “Ask PWTorch: All-Star Panel” edition which is also published most days here at PWTorch.

===

PWTorch reader Giuseppe B. asks: I watched Night of Champions and found something odd. In the opening bout the referee wore protective gloves, but in every other match the referees had no gloves. Why would that be?

PWTorch columnist Sean Radican answers: I noticed that, too. I was told there had to be a pretty big cut for that to happen, but I didn't see anyone bleeding. It's possible there was a cut the cameras didn't catch or they quickly stopped the bleeding and the ref followed the standard procedure and put his gloves on.

PWTorch columnist Greg Parks answers: The ref puts the gloves on when someone during the match is bleeding. I didn't see it at first, but I think I saw someone's hand bleeding toward the end of the match, so that could explain it.

PWTorch editor Wade Keller answers: I asked WWE p.r. and they said WWE’s policy is for a ref to put on gloves at the first sight of blood. The ref saw blood and put on gloves.

===

PWTorch reader Henry F. asks: Given the inconsistencies in WWE's updates on Roman Reigns’s injury, is it possible that he could have been injured prior to Raw? It would help explain why they chose to throw away the Reigns-Rollins match that night.

PWTorch columnist Sean Radican answers: Given what I know, I don't think that's the case. I believe Ambrose was going to play a part in their march at NOC, so I think the match would have taken place had he not been injured.

PWTorch columnist Greg Parks answers: In retrospect, the Reigns vs. Rollins Raw match does seem to be coincidental as far as timing goes and would certainly explain why a PPV match was given away in full, with a clean finish, less than a week before. Still, I don't think WWE would risk putting Reigns in a match of that length, not to mention another match the next day on Smackdown, were they aware of any injury he had.

===

PWTorch reader R. Jack asks: When Daniel Bryan returns, will WWE treat him like a star or like they did before the Elimination Chamber?

PWTorch assistant editor James Caldwell replies: I believe they will treat him like a star because they invested a lot of time and energy in the character - even if they were reluctant to do so - culminating in a big spotlight at WrestleMania. Bryan only had one title defense after Mania, he never lost the title, and now WWE is investing a ton of TV time into the Bella Drama that includes Bryan, so WWE wants to get a return on their investment. And, I anticipate they will try to get as much return on their WM30 investment as possible when Bryan returns.

PWTorch editor Wade Keller answers: You are assuming he is going to be healthy enough to get cleared for a return. That’s not a given. If he does return, he’ll get treated like a star, but the skepticism about him being a Top Top Guy remains, so his push will be full of hesitation and hedging as usual, I suspect, unless they’re ravaged by injuries and desperate.

===

PWTorch reader Forrest M. asks: Kyle O'Reilly is one of my current favorite wrestlers. His MMA/Pro Wrestling hybrid style is really fun for me. To me it seems obvious that he studies MMA fights as he sells for his matches as if he were in the Octogan. He might be on the small side for the WWE. However, his skill and different style would be a huge plus for WWE, in my opinion. Do you think he will eventually end up in WWE?

PWTorch columnist Pat McNeill answers: Kyle was a guest of mine on the PWTorch Livecast a couple of years ago. I would love to see Kyle in a WWE ring. My concern is that some of the trainers in NXT would try to make O'Reilly wrestle the "WWE style" and would take away a lot of what makes him special.

PWTorch editor Wade Keller answers: I think he’s a top candidate among indy stars to end up in WWE eventually, in part because not only is his work in the ring at a top level, but he emotes facial expressions and personality at a high level, which gives Vince McMahon something to work with.

===

PWTorch reader Forrest M. asks: I realize that this is probably a long shot due to the plans for Roman Reigns. However, the dream match for WrestleMania was supposed to be Sting vs. Undertaker. Since the Streak was broken, I would think a one-time match between Brock Lesnar and Sting could draw very well. What do you think of Lesnar dropping the title to someone else before WrestleMania and facing Sting for a one time match with Sting "defending" the Undertaker?

PWTorch columnist Pat McNeill answers: I’m guessing you haven’t run this idea past Sting yet. I think this is a terrible idea. Wrestling fans aren’t going to buy the 2014 version of Sting as a physical threat to Brock Lesnar. Plus, I’m guessing most wrestling fans won’t want to see Sting lose to Brock Lesnar. And I, for one, would feel uncomfortable watching Sting take sixteen German suplexes.

PWTorch columnist Sean Radican answers: I don't think Sting could have a good match with Lesnar at this point in his career. I also don't think it's a good idea to give up building a new star in Reigns for a one-time match at WrestleMania between two wrestlers who aren't going to be on TV every Monday night. If Sting wrestles at WrestleMania, it should be in a situation where he's in the ring with someone who is a big star and can make him look good. The way Lesnar wrestles, he is not that person.

PWTorch columnist Greg Parks answers: I don't think Sting is a big enough deal to WWE to waste Brock Lesnar's limited dates on for a WrestleMania match. Given his push over the last several months, Lesnar should play an integral part in WrestleMania and the build-up, and I don't think a match with Sting would fit that description.

PWTorch editor Wade Keller answers: Yes, this is not a good idea at all. Sting needs to win his first match. Those who know Sting want to see him succeed and have a feel-good win for his first WWE match. Lesnar should not even be selling for Sting, much less losing to him. Sting is in his mid-50s. Let me say that again. Sting is in his mid-50s. It’s just a ludicrous set-up. This week’s Pro Wrestling Torch Newsletter has my interview with Steve Austin transcribed in it where he wonders if fans would believe Daniel Bryan as a credible opponent for Lesnar. There’s no way to tell the story of Sting-Lesnar in a credible way, and neither should be losing to each other under any circumstances. It’s not a match that should be or will be considered.
