MITCHELL'S TAKE
MITCHELL: WWE Cyber Sunday Extra: Stone Cold vs. Santino Marella? Oct 27, 2007 - 1:21:51 PM
One more thing to anticipate, perhaps, at WWE Cyber Sunday wasn't advertised, but you have to figure it is a strong possibility for Sunday...
"Stone Cold" Steve Austin vs. Santino Marella
Austin isn't even scheduled for Sunday unless (wink, wink) he can somehow beat God of Wrestling (but not Buyrates) JBL and (Whatever Happened To) Mick in the oh-so-exciting vote to become Special Referee in WrestleMania Rerun title match between the Undertaker and noted author/adulterer Batista.
WWE never even brought up the possibility of a meeting between Marella, who has been taunting Austin and "The Condemned" every week as a reverse-hype of the bomb movie's release on DVD, and the Rattlesnake, but it might provide some of that value-added bonus Vince McMahon has been looking for ever since pay-per-view buyrates went into a rut…
...particularly if Chris Jericho skips over the paying customers to surprise and thrill the freeloading Raw viewers with his big return Monday night.
Marella has been a riot teasing Austin, particularly last Monday, when he said that Austin was really tough "until the director yelled, 'Cut!'" Fans know that sooner or later Austin is showing up for the rebuttal. It's out of character for Stone Cold to appear and not respond, and at this point Austin is all about his character.
The last time "Stone Cold" Steve Austin appeared on WWE TV was also for one of these value-added pay-per-view bonuses, when he got into a beer-drinking contest with MVP at the behest of Matt Hardy.
Of course, it won't be an actual wrestling match, but Stone Cold doing his Stone Cold shtick while Marella stooges in fear and Maria giggles ought to be a lot of fun.
Like Jericho's return, it seems bound happen either Sunday or Monday night.
