RADICAN: TALES FROM THE PULPIT 7/9: Do you like poopy? Jul 9, 2008 - 5:39:17 PM
Do you like listening to your favorite WWE Superstar talk about taking a 3 hour poopy because he ate some bad food? Maybe if you have the intellect of a small socially awkward child, but for the rest of us that had to suffer through a terribly scripted John Cena this past Monday night on Raw, his character sunk to a new low.
Any person familiar with the current landscape of young children and teenagers knows that the term poopy just isn’t funny. And the child that does find it funny, likely isn’t old enough to figure out he needs to bug his parents to order the next WWE off-brand PPV.
I really enjoyed Raw last week. It seemed unpredictable and fresh, but this week, the show seemed scattered and unfocused at times. How did the new breed of WWE champions fare?
Kofi Kingston faced Charlie Hass, new World Champion C.M. Punk faced Snitsky, and the new World Tag Team Champions didn’t even make an appearance. I can’t believe the same writing crew that brought us the HBK-Chris Jericho storyline scripted something that was as damaging to Cena’s character as they did on Raw this week. It was pathetic and Cena’s stock continues to fall in what has been a largely uninspiring 2008 for the most polarizing figure in WWE.
I’m also willing to bet new, irregular, or semi-regular viewers that don’t watch Raw on a consistent basis and tuned in to see what was going down after last week’s inspiring effort will be completely turned off until Raw generates some positive buzz once again. I know I wouldn’t make time for poopy talk if I didn’t have to.
