TALES FROM THE PULPIT 9/24: Who won "The Taint" for the week of 9/24? Nominations and award revealed inside, plus first inductee into "The Taint" HOF! Sep 24, 2008 - 2:37:04 PM
Once per week, where applicable I give out my weekly "The Taint" award for the dumbest moment or segment in wrestling that I've watched or read about in the past week. There have been many moments in the past week that deserve "The Taint" award. Without further adieu, let's take a look at the nominees for this week! Remember, if you see something you feel worthy of "The Taint," email me at PWTorchSean@gmail.com with your nomination.
"I love watching my son play high school football": Sting's promo on Impact last week to set up his title match against Samoa Joe at Bound For Glory next month was very interesting. He managed to say Joe's name about 1,000 times, bring up house shows, and finally talked about going to watch his son play high school football. Somewhere in there, he was supposed to sell a match, but what do I know.
"Mommy, that's not an elephant's trunk!": How did this one slip through the cracks last week? Jake Roberts appeared at a wrestling event last week intoxicated (I know, shocking). Anyway he ended up getting pinned by force in the ring before eventually exposing himself to the crowd. Later, news broke out that Robert had consumed what he claimed to be a spiked drink before going out to perform. I don't know what's better, reading about his manager saying that Jake can usually perform in the condition or the news that he was claiming someone spiked something he had to drink. It couldn't have had anything to do with the load of empty vodka bottles from his airplane flight people in the back claimed they saw, could it? Nah.
"Can I get on the airplane?": In one of the biggest non-stories of last week, Jeff Hardy was denied admittance when he tried to board a plane when he appeared to be intoxicated. Apparently this type of thing happens all the time and it took the geniuses that reported it on TMZ.com to blow this up much more than it ever had to be. Poor Jeff Hardy can't seem to catch a break, but if I were him, I wouldn't go anywhere intoxicated now that just about everyone is anticipating him getting run up by WWE's Wellness Policy at any moment. I wonder if he's winning at No Mercy next month. Wait, no I don't.

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT
Kute Kip of TNA has been voted into "The Taint" Hall of Fame. The prestigious panel of readers in the Torch VIP Forum voted Kute Kip into the "The Taint" Hall of Fame with a whopping 85.71%. Kute Kip, who is doing his best to ruin The Beautiful People, is truly deserving of this award. Not only has he brought shame to The Beautiful People, but in general he just makes everything he appears in worse. TNA can afford to pay him and yet they low balled Gail Kim. Go Figure! Congratulations are in order to Kute Kip!
